  • Densitometer with small aperture

    Hello,
We are looking to buy a new densitometer and one thing we will need a an aperture to read a 2.5mm x 2mm color bar. Instead of just reaching out to vendors, I wanted to ask what others are using. If you have a small aperture device, what is it and what do you like and dislike about it?

We currently have a Techkon that works well, it is just getting old. It is still fine to re-certify but would like another.

    Thank you,

    John Stewart

    XRite eXact Advanced

Xact provides the most versatile aperture set. You can meet different workflows needs and patch sizes when compared to other instruments: 1.5mm, 2mm, 4mm, & 6mm. eXact’s 2mm spot size is the most popular by capturing a sufficient number of printed dots but enables good measurement of 3mm patches.

This is what we are using now, works pretty good but takes a while to learn all the functions.

        Hi John,

The smallest aperture that either manufacturer (Techkon or X-rite) offers is a 1.5mm aperture. The minimum recommended patch size for this aperture is 3mm. The apertures on the Techkon SpectroDens are easily changed by users. Also, the SpectroDens recently won the InterTech Technology Award for advancement and innovation.

        Thank you!

Why Would You Ever Want To Automate?
It seems far too complex, costs money, involves a lot of people, will take time etc etc. And then you run out of excuses. Read the article.
