Developer temperature controller problems on a Onyx 700 Processor

I think the developer temperature controller on our Onyx 700 Processor has failed (the display doesn't illuminate anymore). Sorry if I'm asking a dumb question, but am I safe to say the developer is not being heated if the controller display is off? Both the controllers for the outer and inner pre heat are still fully functioning.
