PPF to ink key opening

Re: PPF to ink key opening

You can use Komori Bladesetter software to create ink key settings for Komori Presses from ppf files. You could also use it in manual mode and view the ink key settings on screen.

You can download a copy of the manual from my ftp server if you like.

Re: PPF to ink key opening

Where i can find the theory that explains the relationship between the image area size and the blade opening (calibration curve)?
I have to do a graphic with image area ratio (X) and ink key opening (Y)

Thanks

Re: PPF to ink key opening

There isn't really a theory that I'm aware of. You actually calibrate it on press with a triangle target.

I have attached a sample PDF of the wedge we use for our 40" press. After getting the press set to run the wedge at the desired ink density, you record the ink key openings for each percentage of coverage. This gives you a curve that you can use to convert an ink coverage percentage to an ink key setting.

This is a sample readout of the test:

Re: PPF to ink key opening

Thanks.

Our problem is this:

We are implementing a software capable of reading the information contained in the file ppf.
We would like to understand how you can covertire information density at ink key opening.

Thanks

Re: PPF to ink key opening

Wayne, that is some great info,, only wish I had know about this when we were setting our cip profiles....
All we did was run a varied amount of jobs and slowley altered the figures till we acheived a resenable standard.
I may give this a go when we get time to fine tune it even more..

Re: PPF to ink key opening

Each machine have a standard language and calculating procedure.
In any case there is a way to convert data from PDF raster file or PPF into major press (Heidelberg®, Komori® KBA® Sakurai®...
If anyone else are working on this please contact me.
