PitStop-2017’s name signals a move to an annual release cycle. Customers under maintenance will automatically receive PitStop-2017 upon its release. Customers can buy a PitStop-13 license now–prior to V-2017’s release–and will automatically receive PitStop-2017, when released.

Enfocus suggests PitStop-13 users–without a maintenance contract–take one out now and get V-2017 once it’s released. Customers using older versions have the opportunity to take out a maintenance contract prior to release, but they must first upgrade to PitStop-13. PitStop-2017 will be released in April 2017.

One of the very useful new features coming in Pitstop 2017 is new checks based on a Geomapping technology. Now, if you're not sure what this is, think of it like 3D-Preflight and you don't even need any fancy glasses.

What Geomapping does is it looks at the layers of a PDF file and determine what layers (or parts of layers) are actually visible when printed. So, you can easily now remove unwanted objects that just slow down RIPs and not affect the quality of the output. Plus, you can skip these objects in the preflight so that you're not wasting time chasing down errors for objects that won't even make it on the final print.

Check it out on Enfocus.com and again, be sure to check with your Enfocus reseller, or our customer service team to make sure you're up to date on your Pitstop Maintenance contract... it's the cheapest and easiest way to stay up to date with the latest from Enfocus.

Also... if you're an Enfocus customer (even if you have an old dusty Pitstop 7.X sitting on the shelf), it would be a good idea to contact Enfocus and update our records so we know how to keep you up-to-date on new releases and features. There's been a lot of great additions to all our products over the past few years and you may be missing out on some very useful tools!

Sincerely,
Michael Reiher
