How often do you replace your Pantone books?

Our current Pantone books are close to 5 years old. I realize this is pretty old and we plan on replacing soon, however, we just received a draw down from a print vendor for Pantone 522. The drawdown looked nothing like the swatch in the Pantone book, it was far more green than blue. We thought for sure there was an issue on the printer's end, but then we looked at a more recent pantone book and the color swatch for 522 is very close to the drawdown and nothing like the swatch in our older book. The stock on the newer books is slightly more yellow, but not enough to cause this hue shift. Also, I understand the color will fade over time, but this difference in color does not seems to be from fading.

Anyone else experiencing any color discrepancies between swatch books of varying ages?

We replace annually, might be overkill but it can easily pay for itself and we eliminate a source of doubt.

Replaced annually through our Ink supplier. We all get books from the same batch. We have no control over how old our customers books are but so far when they have asked for a PMS ink drawdown and we match it with a Delta of less than 1 to our books we have not had any rejections. We have over 2000 special colours
