FDA Varnish for Thermal Transfer printing

I have a current customer using digital labels with a protective varnish that meets FDA food contact requirements. Now they want the ability to add their own variable print with a thermal transfer ribbon. Does anybody here know of a TT imprintable varnish that meets FDA food contact requirements?

Not sure of a TT that will print and stay on top of the varnish, but why not use a spot coating and allow them to print in the unvarnished area?

Just a thought....

That's a good thought, but the Indigo print-receptive material underneath is not TT imprintable. So we need to add a TT varnish that is also FDA approved.
