While confidence levels vary among regions & markets, this report indicates the print industry will make strong, future investments. Capital investment plans show that 42% of participants spent more during the last 12 months, and +41% plan more investments in 2017. With regard to investment plans, print finishing ranks #1 globally, followed closely by new print technology and PrePress /Workflow /MIS –a sign that automation is being strongly considered.

Globally in 2016, 42% of printers described business as “good”, with digital printing accounting for 50%. Other trends include:
  • Inkjet increasing from 61% in 2014 to 74% in 2016,
  • Digitally printed packaging has started, with 34% of packaging printers offering digitally printed products–an increase of 24% in 2014,
  • Digital inkjet roll-fed color.
