PIA has released its 2019 State of the Industry Report, which provides a detailed outlook of current conditions within the printing industry, from an economic, legislative and regulatory perspective. The report is prepared annually by PIA’s in-house experts and consists of an overview from the Center for Print Economics, Management, Government Affairs and Advocacy, along with a potential forecast of what to expect over the course of 2019.

PIA expects the economy to continue growing at a modest pace of 1—2% during 2019, in spite of a possible recession as we enter the 10th year of economic recovery. There are likely to be a variety of legislative and regulatory challenges facing the printing industry in 2019:
  • Go paperless” initiatives are gaining momentum despite continued industry efforts to stymy development.
  • Increasing costs related to healthcare coverage, material goods and other operational expenses remain at the forefront of trade policy and Congressional talks on Capitol Hill.
