The day after UPS delivered a $1,000 set of car headlights to a New York City auto body shop, the shop owner found a note on his door saying that his packages had been left in his dumpster! However, when the shop owner looked in the dumpster there was nothing there, so he checked his surveillance camera showing the UPS driver putting the packages in the dumpster, according to WCBS-TV who aired the surveillance video.

The shop owner commented on the video, “He looks around, sees that I’m closed, he puts them on the ground, looks around. I see him scan the two packages, and he opens the dumpster.”

After the video publicly aired, UPS agreed to compensate the body shop for the loss. According to the report, the UPS driver left the packages in the dumpster because the shop was closed at the time of the delivery.

He was probably thinking the dumpster was a safe place to hide the packages away from thieves. Didn’t count on dumpster divers needing new headlights though.

Or what day the dumpster was emptied, either.
