Hi All im thinking of buying a vinyl cutter as i was retrenched and now want to freelance , is it better to buy a print and cut large format printer or will a vinyl cutter be ok ? any thoughts .

Depends on what you want to do with it. With a regular cutter/plotter, you can cut vinyl. That's it. If that's enough for you, then that's great. I worked in a sign shop for years that only had cutters. For a lot of the jobs we did that was fine. But we had to farm out work when we needed something print and cut. However, a good print and cut machine will cost considerably more than just a cutter. So, guess the best answer is buy which ever one your budget will allow you to buy.
