Creative Way to Mark Media Cores

So part of our 5S program we found a need to color code our 3" cores based on length (4 lengths). Here are the specifications:

- The color coding would happen as we prepared to load the roll onto the printer
- Right after marking the roll would be put onto the printers roll holder (so the marking would have to be dry)
- The marking would need to happen on both ends of the roll
- The cores are kraft cardboard so ink absorbs and dulls colors, mark needs to be high intensity to remain easily identifiable.
- Has to be able to mark the rolls quickly and easy to ensure compliance from the operators.

Something like this that could be used to quickly apply a colorant would be great but the issue of wet paint has to be avoided: http://weldon.com/applicators-access...weld-4-roller/

Here is one of our before pictures but it shows how the cores will be displayed:

Custom cut foam core media identifiers that are inserted into the roll cores are a good solution (see photo).
