Want to recycle poly-plates

Fred Mershon

I work for a company that uses Mitsubishi polyester plate material, and a lot of it!

I am looking for a recycling company that would pick up and pay us for the the used plate material.

Any ideas? We are located in North Carolina.

Thanks

Recycling polyester plate material

We are looking for an outlet to recycle our polyester plate material. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks

I guess, you will not get a half-of-penny back for poly-plates, Fred.
That's the same policy as plastic shopping bags recycling: may be YOU have to pay them for recycling as we do every shopping.
Only aluminum plates collection for recycling can give you some money back.

Polyester Plates

I have been trying to find out about polyester plates for recycling for years. I know it does contain trace amounts of silver and silver is worth something today. I had a person in Ontario that said they could reclaim the silver off of it but that secret died with him since when I called back he was indeed gone. I am currently getting an assey completed and I will tell you for certain how much silver is actually in it. I have sent in a sample of the virgin plate since I have a skid or two of it. Polyester Plate Recycling in Ontario

Polyester Plate Recycling in Ontario

We will recycle polyester digital plates here in Ontario at NO CHARGE. We will even supply printers with containers to place the material into. Sorry for those out of Province or those out of Canada; it would not be cost effective to ship it to us. The product can be washed, sludge recycled from emulsion and plastic recycled. This will keep this product out of landfill, out of dumpsters and reduce your carbon footprint. One more step in becoming a greener printer and we are happy to help.

We also have products that can cut activator usage by 50% and have been doing this for many years. References and brochures can be supplied.

Glad to help and hope to hear from you Polyester Printers in Ontario.

Anyone in the UK???

We have several hundred rolls of used poly plates now and have been searching for some time.

Dave

Sorry,

We accept loads here from anywhere. That is all I can help you with. We seem to be the only company doing this. Perhaps work with your suppliers and see about helping with shipping costs. Sorry, that is the only thing I can think of at this point. Not the most economical but we do accept.

Dave,

What are you running? Are you using a standard film processor in order to process your plates? If so we have a developer reduction system that will cut your developer usage per plate by 50% (no loss in quality, simple filter change every 3 months). This will offset your costs substancially and increase your profit margin. Or put money towards recycling of the poly plates (shipping). Please email me and I will send you information on this system. I have a few refurbished units that I can put together for a very reasonable price and start lowering your activator costs. We do this for many clients in North American. I would like help you as well. Free money back guarantee as well. Our units work on conventional processors that have circulation pumps (agfa rapilines, avantras and loge are the processors we see the most used for this application).

We are running a Di press.

The rolls have a steel core and about 16m of thick polyester on them, its 530mm wide. These are not film rolls, the material is silicon coated and abblated by laser on the press.

We will keep them stacked as a use will appear one day, i am not going to landfill this byproduct as i believe it has value.

I have come across these rolls at a few locations now and they are becoming more and more popular. I had success with polyester plate recycling and we are recycling them for all of our Ontario clients at no charge. Need a little more time to get this figured out; have faith.

I seemed to have lost my sample. Where are you located. Feel free to email me at [email protected]. Need to get a hold of another roll.

Right now we are taking them from our clients at no charge and removing the scrap metal and recycling that to lower the carbon footprint but no waste stream for the silicon based plate as of yet.

Cheers.

we are in Hertfordshire, England.

we could also strip the cores and sell as steel but that would leave a mountain of poly sheet.

we will keep looking

thanks

Dave

No worries. Better to recycling something than nothing.
We find the easiest way is to place the roll in a vice and use a skill saw with a set blade depth so it only takes a few seconds to get to the metal.

Take care Dave!
