    How do you name files?

Folder on file server is JobNumber_Customer. Inside the job folder are 7 folders: Art - All placed or embedded files go here. (Any file that gets edited is duplicated and renamed with an e_ at the beginning. The original is moved to a separate folder. JobNumber_Fonts - I include the job number...

IMAP, Apple Mail Rules & iPhone Blues

Late to the conversation, but the beauty of IMAP is that you can't access it without a network connection. IMAP is far superior to POP in many ways, but switching from POP to IMAP is a bit sticky. Also moving email to folders with client rules is also a bit tricky (sort-of). You have to change...

    We're looking at a Heidelberg Printmaster QM46

We only ran short run work on ours, so it never ran very fast. The common blanket was always a problem for us with colors that trap or overprint.

Do binderies use CIP4 standards for folding patterns?

Ruling up sheets gives the extra people in prepress something to do. Seriously though, we use the CIP4 folding patterns for almost everything. We have some modified impositions for certain work that helps either the bindery or press operators in some way, but those modifications are "standard"...

    Font Handling in Prepress

Prepress should not look for spelling errors, it's not their job. If something obvious is found it can / should be fixed without a lot of drama. We fix bleed on over 50 percent of the jobs that come through our shop. Not to mention 4c blacks, spot colors, RGB images, embedded profile problems...

PREPS - Shared Impo Templates on PC and MAC

Like Al, Bean, and Lukas said, you'll need to have the marks and templates folder on a network share. We use a file server with an appletalk share, but I suppose you could use Network Attached Storage, SAN, or any other technology that can be configured as a network share. Just copy your marks...

    Fuji Procecssor Replenisher

Orka81- Just noticed this thread. We run a FLP-1260 using LPNV2 plates. I have been successfully mixing developer with the replenisher for over a year now with great results. Like the other responses here, I agree that you can't just nix the replenisher, but in OUR case we are able to save a...
