    UV coating and scoring

My only concern would be if the coating flows into the score, pools and present an issue when you bend at the score. Bottom line....give it a test! I agree with pdan's comment that the UV soft touch should score unless it's very scratch or scuff sensitive. Speak with your supplier.

    gloss spot varnish HELP

I've read all the suggestions and they are all avenues to follow, however, since you already run a matte varnish over the print, sending the job out to a company with a UV screen coater will result in the most dramatic result. You might actually have them us a Raised Image UV gloss to heighten...

    Soft Touch Laminating

I'm curious to know why you chose lamination as the means of providing soft touch feel to the journals. Have you considered water-based or UV soft touch coatings?

    better UV coating?

Printastic, Based on your post, it appears you are simply trying to apply a coating to the sheet, full coverage, not spot coating. Tec equipment is a simple roller coater, no anilox cylinders, no plate system for Photopolymer plates (CYREL™), short dwell time between coating application and the...

    Screen Printing UV coatings

Hi SK, Since my business is specifically UV coatings, it seems you have 2 possible issues. 1. since you reduce or eliminate the problem by lowering the viscosity of the coating, you may have a product that is too high in viscosity (and the Nicoat product might be lower than Actega). 2. The flow...

HP admits that Indigo prints "disrupt recycling"

This problem is much larger than just having printers separating the waste. Most of the waste will be in the hands of consumers. They have no way of knowing how products are printed and are not likely to care. This issue reminds me of the recycling issues raised with UV inks and coatings. In...

Package printing with Solids and UV Coating having cracking issues

The notes from DeltaE are worth evaluating. I would score and fold the sheet at 90 degrees, if the same cracking occurs, then your dealing with a brittle combination of ink & coating. If not you are seeing an issue of the fibers in machine direction vs cross direction. Ink & coating film...

    UV offset production

The use of UV inks in Offset printing goes back to the '70's. All the issues mentioned existed and have been addressed. There are numerous highly capable ink companies that will easily walk you through the setup and running of a UV ink. As to food packaging, medical supplies, etc., these have...

    UV Coating

Probably not oxidation, however the product's ingredients could be slowly reacting. Is your tank Stainless Steel, or non-metallic, if not perhaps reacting with sidewalls of tank. Have you asked your UV coatings vendor...have them check their retained sample from the batch to see if it's...

    Varnish Over Toner

At the risk of posting something commercial, the issue is fairly common with toner based printing and UV top coating. There is a lack of intercoat adhesion between the print and the coating (or varnish) due to the toner oils sitting at the surface of the print. Many of the coaters are designed...

    UV Ink Adhesion

Of the various plastic films, PET has always been a challenge for UV Inks or Coatings to adhere. Clearly there is something sitting on the surface that is soluble in IPA since it is removed and allows your ink to stick. Cornoa was a good thought since it makes the surface more receptive to...
