What is the difference between the PressSync curves. For example, if an E50 curve is a straight line, and the rest of the curves differ in the highlight/shadow curves, how much does an A50 curve differ at 25% and 75%? Is there a set distance between each curve letter at each percent?

I'm hopeful I found the right .txt file. I ended up downloading a trial of ProfileMaker (which I'm surprised I could still do), and grabbing the reference text file out of the printer EyeOne_i0 folder. This has the correct number of patches. I'll have to verify when I get back to the office.

The top of the chart reads "IT8.7-4 CMYK i1_i0 PM 5.0.7" Size: 27.9 x 16.3 cm, complete patch amount: 1638. Does the "PM" mean ProfileMaker? At the bottom of the chart it reads GreytagMacbeth 2005.

We have tried using a photopolymer barred plate for several coating trials on our offset HUV press. Does someone know of vendors in the US (midwest area) that can be a resource for us? We are looking for more than one vendor that can supply us with these plates.

Great summary, thank you. I am, however, still curious how you determine which colors will contaminate. Is it more experience of the operator? Do you view the Photoshop file with the ICC profile of the press in order to see how they appear?

I am familiar with the offset world but transitioning to flexo. We rarely have to adjust images. How do flexo prepress operators handle image editing? Is it a manual process where the minimum dot (and abrupt transitions) is adjusted in Photoshop, or are plugins such as Esko's flex tools used...

Our Epson proofer is calibrated and set up to a Gracol profile and our plating curves for press are aimed to match the proof. We have a customer who sent in their proof, which differs from ours. They say it is also set to a gracol profile. Their stock is whiter, however the difference in proofs...

How many of you use FIRST? How difficult was it to implement? Has it been more beneficial for prepress or press? Do you recommend using the online training from FTA or another means to start implementing it? We are looking for ways to standardize our flexo process, mainly in the pressroom.

Whenever we have gotten Copydot files, which is pretty much the same as a 1-bit tif., what I have done in the past is place each tif in Adobe Indesign. I make sure to color the tiff the appropriate color (Cyan, etc.), and set it to overprint. Then I either print directly to a Screened WF, where...

From what I recall, we had this problem a few years ago. If you go to your main server, can you see the .CTs from there? We could not see the files from our workstations, but we could see them if we looked on the main server. I'm trying to remember, but it seems like it was a setting on our file...
