    What would you offer?

Re: What would you offer? It sounds like this is a person who has been taken advantage of by his employer. Why does a good employee have to ask for a raise? Good companies recognize and reward good employees. I would give him enough of a raise to make up for the 5 years of neglect.

    Who/what prints iPhoto books?

Re: Who/what prints iPhoto books? One of their suppliers uses both iGen3 and Indigo presses. More I probably cannot say due to NDA.

Thick L's and i's in pdfs.

Re: Thick L's and i's in pdfs. It's the basic physics of output vs. screen resolution. A screen simply cannot display all the "dots" in the file, so elements will appear thinner or thicker at various screen resolutions. Looking at a high-resolution file on screen is simply not an accurate...

Re: Mark all forums read Thanks, been waiting for that. Also "See all new posts" query would be great.

    Online PDF preflight solutions

Re: Online PDF preflight solutions The original thread asked for "online" preflight tools. Acrobat has never been licensed for Server use, and their server tools are confusing, expensive, and seem to frequently change names and pricing models.

    Numbering software

Re: Numbering software I mean, if the jobs you are sending to the printer are PostScript language files, then you can add a small bit of PostScript code to each file. That PostScript code would modify the rest of the file slightly, so that each page would be numbered.

    Numbering software

Re: Numbering software Any VDP software could do this... PrintShop Mail (I work for them) is often used for numbering and personalization, though it can do a lot more. If you have a PostScript workflow for these documents, a simple little PostScript header on the top of each job could do...

    Online PDF preflight solutions

Re: Online PDF preflight solutions I thought the FlightCheck "online" link was spot on. Maybe I misread what the tool really does, but it sure seemed at first glance to be a "skinnable" web-based preflight tool. I've used [PDF Tools AG|http://www.pdf-tools.com/] in the past to build my own...

    PostScript verses PDF

Re: PostScript verses PDF MARS is PDF... it's an XML storage system for PDF. It doesn't add or subtract any functionality to the PDF per se, it's merely another way of storing a PDF on disk. What it WILL do is greatly expand, I believe, the software tools available for creating and editing PDF...

    PostScript verses PDF

Re: PostScript verses PDF Alan, You're right. Driver-produced PostScript is generally bloated and full of unused procsets. VDP applications though all do generic or vendor-specific forms caching. Generally, when I talk PostScript I mean custom-written PostScript. It's so convenient just to...

    Direct Smile

Re: Direct Smile I've seen and worked with it a bit, since Printshop Mail now has a DirectSmile plugin. I would agree: powerful, a bit complex.
