Printing same image (2UP) on sheet problem with print

You could rotate the file-if the problem is in the same place, it's the press, if it's the file it will be wrong no matter how you spin it. Good luck.

Anything with transparencies and my prepress department notes it on the job bag. For me that means never use a hot folder to put the file on the press, always just drag the file on. 99% of the time doing this and no problems with transparencies. If there still is a problem then flattening it fixes it. Why??? I have no idea.
 
For giggles did you try imposing outside of Fiery? We used to run into this and switched to Montax Imposer. Though I agree it is a transparency issue.
 
As people said before it is a transparency problem. The issue is in the file creation, the creator should always flatten the job as a final step so that all the transparent layers are made into one single layer for sending to print. The unflattened job issues will be viewable in Image Viewer, in the hold queue, before the printer even becomes involved.
 
It's very strange, yes its a transparency issue but the rip is also acting strangely with it. The exact same image is 2up on the same sheet as the op and the left hand one is wrong and the right hand one is correct? So the rip is processing the same artwork twice but only getting it right once.
Any transparency issues I've had have always been the same on both.
I do find turning Image Quality to normal has fixed this on occasion for me.
 
Because file problems are tough to figure out sometimes, bad files act badly. It always comes down to the same answer, artwork should always be flattened before it is sent to the printer.

I know what you mean by this but I find more people tend to go straight to flattening rather than try to resolve the issue or even have the person who created it take a look at the file. The problem I have with just flattening files is you lose the ability to grab spot callouts and the possibility of altering the color in unfavorable ways is common.

APPE seems to take care of a lot of these issues but there are some where the files just have not been created correctly or the RIP just has an issue processing for one reason or another.

So I agree with you but it should have a disclaimer to only flatten as a very last resort.
