Thank you for your input Puch. A programmer would be ideal. I hope I can build the majority of the workflows that utilize prepress but the tie-in to the MIS is why I fear I need someone with script experience.
Well, yes to your description Puch :)
web portal to MIS to some kind of automation engine to prefight through to device then once job shipped triggered for billing.
This is probably going to be very subjective but do you all have a favorite workflow solution? I recently started at a new shop and they are using Esko AE to build workflows and use Webcenter for proofing and job tracking... although a lot of the connections between the MIS and Esko are broken...
We installed a new Arizona about 5 months ago. White has been quite the pain. We were warned, but man if you don't print with it every day it clogs up! We are new to the wide format world and this is our first flatbed. We wipe the heads every night before we leave but should we be doing...
Oh wow turbotom. Someone sounds bitter. And to clarify, when I said spoil the pressmen, I meant by keep the AC down around 75/76. I wasn't meaning turn the AC off! I just meant not have it quite so low.
I am a production guy, not owner. I don't have a company car. Our pressman actually just...
We are in the marketing for a new-to-us press. Looking at a 4 color probably around a 20" x 29". Currently have a 28" mitsi with the chilled rollers and dryer system and a coater tower.
So I've found a couple discussions on chilled rollers but I can't help but walk still scratching my head.
Do...
Steve Greene is at our shop as we speak working on our Mitsi 6 color. Great guy. Used to work for Mitsi. I'm not sure where you are but he's out pf PA. His number is 484-223-6197
Man that would be awesome to fly out to SAN FRAN. That's very kind of you to offer to help dabob. We've used a couple places in our area (Atlanta, Jacksonville, and Orlando) so most likely the boss lady won't let me fly cross country, but it can't hurt to ask!
I think a cylinder press is our best bet. We are willing to pay a little more to get a faster more efficient press. But dabob, you do make me nervous now about having one of our pressmen take over this "new" machine. I assumed it would be similar enough to running a printing press that they...
I'm in the Southeast so I have a feeling we might be close to what you paid when regional inflation is accounted for. Was your diecutter new for $35K?
Agreed on the folder/gluer. Been looking into these. Looked into a Marathon machine. Found a couple of those actually.
Average run on a PF for...
Thanks for the articles dabob. And sorry for the vagueness of my needs. But I am truly starting from scratch here and not exactly sure what I should be looking for. We are a medium size shop. The largest press is 28". We do a ton of pocket folders but send them out to finishers out of town. I...
Interesting. Thanks for the detailed reply dabob. So you say it would be expensive to make your cylinder press do embossing. Is that because of the time to setup for something other than diecutting? Or are there additional parts you need in order to do embossing on a cylinder press? I'm learning...
Thanks for the advise guys. Yeah I guess it couldn't hurt to get a 40". Too large is better than too small. dabob, so a cylinder machine can't do embossing? Or just the model you have? I thought the cylinder diecutter can do embossing as well??
Sorry to be one of those guys asking such general questions, but our shop has decided to purchase a diecutter and I am in the dark as to what we should be looking for. I have had some advise from a equipment sales person but I thought I would reach out to you all and ask, what makes a good...
I saw that but it only relates to creating a color inside the software. We have new colorbars that LithoTel created for us a number of years back that we somehow imported into the software.
