So... I knew I was going to regret it!

Thanks for posting. To be honest, cost wasn’t so much the issue. When we bought the Xerox, we had a specific need for a machine upstairs (printing stickers) and as it was only a second machine, it didn’t make sense to buy new. Our click rate on the Xerox is 3.8p colour and 0.8p B&W so the same...

So... I knew I was going to regret it!

To be honest, any machine I do buy will be on a service contract so as long as it’s still under contract I should be fine. I did speak to our engineer last time he visited about getting a 3100 and he said they were excellent machines. I might also take a look at the Ricoh c5300/7200 as well but...

So... I knew I was going to regret it!

I actually ended up sending the director of the dealer an email and copied the service guys in. Basically saying that my contract with them says I should be getting a maximum response time of 4 hours and I’m getting nowhere near that. I also reminded them that I’d already discussed with them...

So... I knew I was going to regret it!

I 100% agree that it’s a service issue rather than the machine but it’s sometimes hard to look past the issues being with the machine when the issues are piling up because the service guys aren’t doing their job. I have to say, the actual engineers that come to site are excellent. Once they’ve...

So... I knew I was going to regret it!

Does anyone here have a Xerox and actually like it? I posted a while back about the conundrum of whether to sell my KM C3070 or my Xerox Versant 80, and in the end, the higher resale value on the KM and the fact my Xerox had the booklet finisher and square fold trimmer swung it for me and so I...

SOLD UK SALE - Konica Minolta C3070 LESS THAN 300k clicks

A sale for this machine had been agreed but the dealer has not made contact in well over a week so putting this back up for sale. Konica AccurioPress C3070 3 drawer air assisted feeder FS532 finisher with Hole Punch and Staple modules Integrated Fiery controller Includes 4 brand new Coroners...

    Konica vs Xerox?

That would be my dream. Our plan is after Christmas to see if we can upgrade to the Versant 3100 and then see if we can get some decent finishing on that. We will hopefully then have the space to keep the Versant 80 as well (even if it’s just the bare machine with the standard stacker finisher).

    Konica vs Xerox?

Our contract on the Xerox is with a Xerox dealer that use a third party service provider instead of Xerox engineers so I’m not too worried about the servicing aspect at present. As I said, I really love our KM machine and wouldn’t hesitate getting one again if I could afford one with the IQ...

    Konica vs Xerox?

My Xerox has about 3.5 years remaining on its service contract so availability of parts is not my problem 😁

    Konica vs Xerox?

Indeed. Absolutely gutted to be selling it to be honest and in my opinion getting peanuts for it (dealer has offered £8k plus vat because they said it needs a couple of parts…transfer belt and fuser belt) but needs must unfortunately.

    Konica vs Xerox?

Just thought I'd post an update to this thread. I've made the decision to keep the Xerox for now and sell the Konica. I'm aware that I 'should' be doing the opposite, and it's been an incredibly tough call to make, but my main reasons are as follows: 1) I have the booklet finisher and square...

    Konica vs Xerox?

We don't do envelopes. Mainly SRA3 sheets of varying thicknesses (mostly 350gsm card stock) and lots of self adhesive paper. The Versant 80 is great when you use SIQA but when doing cardstock and anything larger than A3 you have to use the document glass rather than the document feeder which...

    Konica vs Xerox?

I've asked our Xerox dealer to keep an eye out for a relatively low mileage Versant 3100 as a potential upgrade from the Versant 80 but hadn't thought of the Versant 280 as I thought that was a fair bit newer than 3 years old...will have a look. Unfortunately, we do print a fair amount of...

    Konica vs Xerox?

That's good to know about having a fair bit of years left on the C3070. In an ideal world, I'd either keep both or get rid of the Xerox and get an offline booklet maker instead but I just don't have the space for even a small booklet maker at this point.

    Konica vs Xerox?

Kind of. What we do though is we keep a tally of the toners that we buy, so for example if we buy a magenta toner today, then get 3 magenta toners from KM next week, we will hold one back as our toner so when the contract ends we won't give that one back to KM.

    Konica vs Xerox?

Yeh, we bought our Konica brand new 5 years ago. We’ve only done <300k clicks on it as most of what we print is short run, high margin rather than high volume so it’s still a baby really. KM have said they’ll continue to service it but we are kind of at their mercy as to when they decide they no...

    Konica vs Xerox?

No we couldn’t justify the cost of the IQ when we bought our C3070. We paid £22k for the C3070 with three air assisted trays and a standard finisher and the IQ would have been an extra £16k. Unfortunately, we don’t currently have the space to keep both machines otherwise I would definitely...

    Konica vs Xerox?

Just relooking at this, as once again our Versant 80 has required a service call...apparently because we are not using it enough. I really need to make a decision as to whether to sell our Konica C3070 and run the Versant 80 til we buy another machine or sell the Versant 80 and keep the Konica...

    Konica vs Xerox?

Interesting. I’ve not done any critical double sided stuff on our Versant 80 but when I’ve done the SIQA adjustments it’s been bang on when it’s finished. In comparison, our KM3070 is a lot more manual in doing the front to back registration. The main issue I have with the Xerox is prints on...

    Konica vs Xerox?

Just for curiosity more than anything… Out of these two manufacturers, which do you prefer? Thinking of the Konica C4080/Versant 280 kind of product range rather than the higher end models.
