    Litho prepress color management question

ORIS is not Fuji's. ORIS is a product of a company called CGS. Fuji sells both ORIS and GMG. I have used EPSON printers with both RIPs and both were re-sold by Fuji. It has been over 6 years since I have last used GMG (with an EPSON 9800 and an offline spectro). But at the time, I liked the...

Adobe CC Price Increase & Feedback

I received the same email. It stated that when my contract renews in August it will go up to $79.99/mo. Up from $69.99/mo. I have Creative Cloud for teams. I have 9 seats. That means I will be paying $1,080 more per year.

    You know you're old when . . .

Just two days ago I learned that a widely accepted term for # is "octothorpe". There is no known usage before it was adopted by Bell Labs in the late 1960s or early 1970s.

    PREPS 7 Creep with crossover

What is the weight of the paper it will be printing on? Since they are only 16-page signatures, I wouldn't worry about creep unless it is higher than 100# book weight.

Advice and suggestiongs on two sided impo proofing

We have had the ImpoProof with the two Canon iPF8400S printers for about 2 1/2 years now. It replaced a PreProofer with 2 EPSON 9880 printers that we have had for about 10 years. Before that we had a HP DesignJet with a TechSage SpinJet accessory. The ImpoProof has the best back-up by far, but...

    Printing Industry Future

Packaging will be the mainstay of print. Brochures, catalogs, books, etc. will go digital, but everything that we purchase needs to come in a package.

    PitStop Pro 2017 Update

I am not sure when it was released but PitStop Pro 2017 Update 1 is available. One thing I did notice is that when you use the Select Object tool, the frame of the object becomes highlighted as it did in the past.

    InDesign CC 2017 lagging issue

Here is another one of our late-2012 27" iMacs that I upgraded last weekend. It literally went from about a 3 minute boot-up to a 5 second boot-up

    InDesign CC 2017 lagging issue

We have several 2012 27" iMacs. We are on the Creative Cloud. We had MAJOR lagging issues. That all went away when I replaced our platter HDDs with SSDs. It is not an easy process as the iMacs are sealed, but absolutely worth it!

Pitstop 17 and Acrobat DC issues

This seems odd to me. Acrobat is the vehicle that you are hitching a ride from. Enfocus should be programming code to meet the the specs Acrobat that Adobe has written, not the other way around. You produce a plug-in for Acrobat. Without that application you would not exist. Asking them to...

The case against the EPS file.

With .eps files you need to make sure that the Document Raster Effect settings are at least 300dpi otherwise vignettes and drop shadows will band. A lot of designers are not aware of this.

    macOS Sierra

Hi all. We are still running Rampage 12.3.23 until we make the move to a currently supported DFE. Has anyone upgraded to macOS Sierra (10.12.x) with the use of the Rampage client? Experiences? Incompatibilities? Thanks so much!

    Production Planner Notes

Worked on a job today and this was in the prepress/press instructions... "PLEASE NOTE: THIS JOB WILL RUN SHEETWISE FOR DRYING PURPOSES. BUT TECHNICALLY, THE SAME IMAGE PRINTS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE SHEET AS IF THE RUN IS WORK & TURN." Uh... isn't that a W&Turn?

    Does anyone use Quark anymore?

We use Q2!D from Markzware to convert QuarkXPress files into InDesign. It does a decent job. I don't use it on publications though, I am terrified of re-flow.

Having been a retoucher since the launch of Photoshop 25 years ago, I found this to be quite funny. This was the OBC of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue I just received in the mail.
