Has Covid killed the business card?

It's surprisingly common from printers and vendors. I have a stack of business cards from Canon and if you fan them out it's just a gradient of red since they're so inconsistent. I've received crooked cards from Xerox, and misfolded brochures from several print vendors.

Xerox Versant 180- printing Extra Long (CEL) sheets

Strongly agree. Ran into the same issue on our Canon 750. Even if the sheets made it through, the registration was so unreliable the only thing you could run was something super generic with massive margins to hide the printer shift.

    Basic Imposition Software

I prefer Quite Imposing. I don't like the idea of being tied to the Fiery ecosystem. Quite Imposing isn't as visual, but it's super fast and can do nearly anything. It's also crazy cheap for how much it does.

Xerox 550 vs Versant 180....Post installation regret.

An exacto blade and a ruler could do this job. I am absolutely baffled by your incompetence. I am sorry to be so blunt, but nothing about this is hard. You ignore everyones advice and then blame everything but yourself.

    Variable Data Printing Software

I know this is old, but have you tried PDF/VT, or PPML output? As long as your controller supports them it will likely eliminate your crashing issues. Also, we use XMPIE for complex VDP jobs, but for basic mailings we use PSL (Jetletter) and it's insanely fast for it. I just did a 5x7 full...

Anyone have a service manual for a Morgana CardExtra Plus?

I'd guess contacting Morgana directly would be your best bet. https://plockmaticgroup.com/contact-us/

Packaging posters for shipment - UPS is killing us with special handling charges!!!!

Tubes roll around and can't easily run through sorting equipment. It's likely you'd get hidden charges from FedEx as well. I'd suggest using a cylindar tube and then inserting them inside the triangles for best results. Uline carries 6" triangular tubes for shipping. You might also check with...

Finding the Heart of the Business

Keeping a RIP up to date is the worst part of printing. It's basically planned obsolescence and 500+% markup. I could buy a PC at a garage sale for $50 that's faster than some of the RIPs in our shop, but the vendor is gonna want $5000+ to replace it. I get charging for the software license, but...

    Task Management software

I'd check out Trello as well. I liked that it could be tracked with a mobile app as well so I wasn't tied to my computer to update it.

Xerox 700i Dots/Damage to Black Drum

I already reported you, but please tell me how a Sharp drum is going to fix a Xerox printer.

How to stitch A4 landscape booklet (short run of 10)

I completely forgot about that! A few years ago a co-worker took it home and welded longer pieces on for us. He even added flames as a joke since he has a vinyl cutter at home.

Something like this is helpful if you continue to hand staple books. https://www.mybinding.com/rapid-106-electronic-stapler.html

Automatic front to back registration for Ricoh Pro C5200S

Ask your salesperson. Usually if you don't see it then it's a license thing.

    Canon VarioPrint Speed

I know I have two techs being trained on it currently, but that machine is almost brand new. It's only been available in the US for like 8 months. That said, it's inkjet, so there's really no reason the spec sheet wouldn't be accurate. It doesn't use toner or fusers, so there's no real reason...

    Morgana Digi Fold Pro

We only have the Autocreaser, but I have a feeling it's the same pump. If you take off the front panel there's a fuse box on the right side. It's just one fuse, just make sure after you change it that the fuse clamps are tight. you can probably see in the photo that the clamps on ours are pretty...

    Windows 11

Most computer users call the monitor the computer and the case the hard drive. You can't be surprised that MS/Apple has to design the OS around those users. It reminds me of a quote I saw the other day by a forest ranger at Yosemite National Park on why it is hard to design the perfect garbage...

    Windows 11

I build my own PCs and consider myself a power user and never understood the hate for Win10. Win8 was a pile of crap, but 10 was better than 7 in every way. Don't be a grumpy old man, you'll acclimate to it in like a week.

    ACM cutting for small signs

When I worked at Kinko's we used something similar to this to cut Foam and Gatorboard. The cuts were always pretty clean, and it's a lot safer. I still cut myself a few times, but that was me being careless with blade changes, never while using the equipment. It says it's rated to cut up to 1/2"...
