    Komori Press Impressions

The counters USUALLY (not sure on this model) have more digits to the left if you can peek under the plate where it is attached. You could have 235 or more. YMMV.

    Prinergy, Plates and Calibration

LOL. Who told you not to 'calibrate' the plate? It all comes down to the IMAGING system (laser) staying the same and the plate emulsion staying the same. So if your plate provider 'calibrated' your 'laser' device then "as long as" there are no changes in the laser intensity OR the plate emulsion...

Quark Xpress 2024 ver 20.02 font problem

Shot in the dark - are you ALSO using Indesign? If so you MAY have a different set of fonts 'automatically' loaded and they may interfere with QXP's usage. ??

Not possible with the technology you are using.

    Epson Proof Resolution Setting

I believe I mentioned that the Epson uses a stochastic dot pattern, just like your press plates! The Epson 10000 evidently has three dot sizes - but the spec sheet noticeably leaves out the SIZES of the dots :-) and the 'dpi resolution' is 12XX x 7XX. So the dot 'size' is essentially static and...

    Epson Proof Resolution Setting

You don't include the Model# of Epson in your post. If you are using a new-ish SureColor then your actual max dpi is 2400x1200 - I believe. We make plates at 2400x2400 Traditional Screen and it only approximates the press resolution. We notice this lower resolution mostly in the highlights below...

    Riso ComColor Linux Drivers

CUPS is a great system. Apple doesn't own it anymore. CUPS requires a stand alone driver. The printer the OP is talking about doesn't have a stand alone driver. The driver is installed on, and requires Windows Server internal elements, to function. :-) My HP printer does work with the driver...

    Riso ComColor Linux Drivers

We have an HP plotter that ONLY runs well with the HP Click app. Windows only. No server options. Sigh.

    Riso ComColor Linux Drivers

Google says only windows server versions. WHQML. So they are locked to the Windows Server OS. No Mac No Linux. That being said you could put up a Windows Server and share it to a Mac or Linux box ???

    Detecting areas of fine detail

This might actually be a use case for an 'Expert System', what people often mistakenly call AI. Visual analysis systems are being utilized in many industries. Assuming: You would use your current system and people to analyze images past and present. Then 'train' the new system on those...

    Riso ComColor Linux Drivers

Well, the Mac uses the same print program (underneath) as Linux. If you can get the drivers for the mac they SHOULD work for most Linux. I do that on some older Konicas and HP printers that are 'unsupported' on the newer Macs. YMMV

    Canva acquires Affinity apps

Got an email to that effect. Canva is much BIGGER than Affinity. Affinity is not going anywhere. Remember Affinity was 'made' by designers who hired and assisted programmers because Adobe pissed them off. Both Affinity and Canva products are built on a MODERN programming base. Yes Adobe is...

    Looking to upgrade from StudioRIP

Wow. You need a consultant (me) or someone to confirm your needs and determine which software might fit. Or you could stumble into whatever the sales guy says you need.

Xerox Versant 180 wrinkles in paper

And IF the tech knows their job they will be able to inform you and determine the cause. There may very well be a 'Tech Note' on the issue. Sigh.

    Is Antivirus Software Still Needed?

So your off-line backups and an up to date anti-virus package is the best you can do BECAUSE you have 'exposure'. I propose a '3rd' law of computer problems: (hat off to Newton): For every exposure there is an equal and 'appropriately damaging' virus. YMMV

    Why Mac?

Strictly a business decision - Pick the options below that matter the most. 1. Macs hold their value better - PCs allow more homogeneity (software/support). 2. Speed of operation is at least a wash in most programs with comparable hardware. 3. Maintenance is still easier on Macs i.e. rarely...
