Editing a Normalized PDF in Illustrator

It'd be quite dangerous. We runned into trouble doing this because the normalized pdf carries Esko metadatas that can lead to misunderstandings. My only advice is not to directly edit the normalized pdf but to copy-paste the graphics in a brand new AI file.

    ILLUSTRATOR lost font

Have you ever opened a file in ILLUSTRATOR and then, after saving it as AI+PDF, realized that some font had not been embedded correctly? And then, simply by opening and resaving, the problem disappeared?

    ISO 20654

    I'm not so tech-savvy for this ... I don't get it 🙁

    ISO 20654

Ulrich, I totally agree with you! A workflow like this is impossible to me! That's why I was asking fellows about their thoughts and procedures.

    ISO 20654

This is a nice testimony! 🙂 I also think it's too tricky to have a TVI curve for every ink - even if this is how I imagine how it should be.

    ISO 20654

I'm talking about Measurement and calculation of spot colour tone value

    ISO 20654

Generally speaking about printing spot inks screens... How do you deal with it? Do you use ISO 20654 somehow? Do you press-proof every spot ink before running tha actual job? A single TVI curve for everything? What else? ... Whatever to talk about is well accepted! :)

    "white base: absolute" ?

Thanks for your reply, but ... is there something else besides the "white calibration plate"? I mean... all the spectros I've seen calibrate over their white calibration plate.

    "white base: absolute" ?

Hi there! A client of ours sent us his color reading specs where you can also read: "white base: absolute" (see screenshot). Pity my English is not so skilled! How do you interpret that? The actual substrate must be white? Or there must be a white backing under the measured sample? Or what...

Is there someone still available to send something to me too?

    Speaking behind Pantone's back

Those ways are both right! The client can ask you to print some XYZ ink over whatever, and he gets what he gets. Or he can ask you to reach some LAB values over whatever, and we call our ink maker, and he'll do his magic. The usual problem is the client ask you for XYZ ink over whatever, but he...

    Speaking behind Pantone's back

That's the point! IMHO calling "a color" using some "Pantone's name" nowadays is more caotic than usefull - better call it using it's values. Just like you don't say "my house is [random name] feet tall" but you rather say "it's 25 feet high".

    Speaking behind Pantone's back

Just yesterday a customer complained because he asked us to print the Pantone xyz C: our press-man did it, but the paper was not the same as the colorguide, so the result was not what the customer expected. (I was not involved before, otherwise I would have seen this bitch coming!). Until a few...

    cxf freeware ?

Is there some freeware to play around with cxf files? Osx? Win? Something free, to read files, to read lab or spectral values by i1pro, to save files, ... ...because I have the very old hardware, but the very old software ain't supported no more by new Os!

    revive old i1Pro

I've found the solution: https://www.xrite.com/service-support/i1share_does_not_see_i1_on_windows_64_bit_systems i1Share 1.4 will not work with 64-bit systems because the included EyeOne.dll file has not been updated for 64-bit support. This is why the Eye-One device will not be recognized on...

    revive old i1Pro

Ok!! i1Diagnostic says the i1Pro works well - but still I cannot use i1share: it doesn't seem to detect the device. Any help on this?
