    Yes Man

Nobody wants to be perceived as a "yes man", so they aren't admitting, "yes, I like your strip"!

    HELP Konica minolta c2060L

I've had similar confusing messages on my KM1100 controller before. It also has an internal RIP. Have you tried shutting down everything and unplugging the printer for a minute of so? Cutting the current flow and then booting back up returned my machine back to normalcy.

    Xante Impressia

Hmm, better have that fuser checked to see if it's getting up to temperature. Sure doesn't sound like it.

    Yup, that's a reasonable PIA fee ;)

    Toner adhesion problems

I would have tried slowing down fusing time by registering the paper at a higher gsm, but you've already done that and everything else I would have tried. Wasn't hip to the "tape test" though and I appreciate the tip. This issue reminds me of others where technicians proclaim "it's the paper"!

New Job Title for Prepress/Wide Format/Digital Press operators

Your experience mirrors mine. "Prepress Technician" works for me. My bosses didn't know what job title to give me, so I decided for them.

Yup. That's basically what the Veritiv sales guy said.

i heard on the street today

I gave our local Verativ dealer a ring and was told the relationship had been unexpectedly terminated by Neenah yesterday. He said they hope to land a deal with the Mohawk people who have contemplated producing a similar brite paper.

Finding Good Employees ? Are We Crazy

Again today, a prospective employee dispatched from a temp agency was a no show. Our owner likes going this route when there is a job opening, but it takes mucho time and patience. I'm happy I don't have to do the training, because typically, if the person even shows up, they are one of two...

Don't print direct mail - print meat instead!

Rice, peas and seaweed fashioned into something that resembles a steak? Ah, the good life . . . not! Maybe it would be better smothered with onions, but they give me heartburn.

    Xante Impressia Enterprise Feeder woes

We've got an Impressia dedicated to just envelope printing. It was purchased through Pacific Office Automation and they service it for us. But I've found the people at Xante to be really helpful and willing to answer my questions. The number is 251-473-6502.

How do you catch booklets as they exit your digital printer's finisher?

The KM110 prints booklets slow enough that we can hand offload from the conveyor into a box or PO tub. We like to stack them by 10s and then reverse direction to keep the stacks from getting unwieldy. Of course, whoever is doing this can multi-task during the process as long as there's no backup...

    When to Shingle?

Don't know when or why we'd let a job get saddle-stitched without trimming the shingled part. Even when page #s and running heads/feet are close to the trim edge, we reduce the image area to keep those elements clear of the trim. This is from the perspective of a short run, digital press...

    Politically Correct Packaging

This story is not a big deal since companies make changes to their packaging all the time. The new art looks good and the animals are now free and happy. I do agree with Mail guru's opinion that companies should not cave to threats from activist groups in the name of being pc. I suppose in...

    canon c750 envelope speed

Our C750 can be used for booklet envelopes but we never run them on it. The limited tray capacity would have us reloading at an exhausting pace. I assume you have a bypass tray. But your speed seems faster than our Xante Impressia.

Would be interested in any equipment that you may have

Interested in a Konica Minolta 7000? We've had it for six years and it works fine -- we just needed to replace it with another color printer that could do tray pulls from ps files.

    Xerox V80 v Canon C750

If you are considering the C750, I can say the quality, color and property controls are good. But be sure to ask the salesperson about the production constraints. Long run jobs took a toll on it and we had frequent jamming problems. The techs were omnipresent and were always replacing parts. We...

Challenge 305 MPC on Challenge Safety Notice. Still useable?

Our Challenge 305, being an old cutter, isn't covered for parts and repair by Challenge approved service techs anymore. Our former tech wouldn't even change blades for us. But it's like that old, reliable car that has served us well over the years and still keeps running. Eventually we will...
