Looking for Hi-Res non-inkjet proofing system

Iris couldn't offer the required resolution, even in its' glorious days. It used only 300 ppi CT files. Nowadays, a standard modern inkjet printer would do MUCH better, but still wouldn't be enough for the required use.

    The floppy

Although I occasionally rescue customers' backed up files from obsolete media including 3.5" diskettes, Zip, MO and Syquest, as well as various tapes - a 5.25" floppy didn't appear in years. I keep a lot of my old hardware "just in case" however, in many cases these disks refuse to load...

    The Decision

Whenever an offset shop dumps its' presses, the positions of the remaining offset shops strengthen.

Looking for Hi-Res non-inkjet proofing system

Using Digital Thermal Film to produce the image is OK, but will leave you with the necessity to make contact prints photographically and DITR film users rarely have photographic processing. BTW, thermal ablative films need to be handled very delicately because their emulsion tend to get...

Looking for Hi-Res non-inkjet proofing system

Perhaps High-res Digital printing such as HP Indigo will do. A little less contrast and sharpness but may work for you.

Looking for Hi-Res non-inkjet proofing system

You may produce your charts on photographic paper, much like producing a Cromaline proof. Resolution and contrast would be comparable. Film and imagesetters are still around, mainly used for Silk Screen and small scale PCB production, high-contrast photographic (contact) paper should still be...

    inkjet film for silkscreen posies

The slight diffusion of the light rays may have adverse effect on halftone screen dots. It shouldn't have a noticeable effect on solid objects.

    PDF READER for DUMB clients

I believe that the RIP separates and rasterizes the files so they are already flattened, consequently transparencies are not likely to be a problem. EDIT: Sorry, re-reading the post makes me want to erase my comment. The PDFs discussed are merely "Normalized", so they weren't actually RIPed.

Who is still using Acrobat Distiller?

I am using distiller occasionally to produce pdfs from ps/eps files, in order to visually check the content of the graphic files. Since the 1980's we used "hand written" Postscript commands to create the basic graphics for calendars, barcodes, rulers, special grids, tints etc., coupled with a...

    Lotem 800 Diodes - E-boxes swap

Good day Lotem experts. My situation requires that I replace the E-Box of my old Lotem 800V2 (48 diodes) with the E-Box of from a similar Lotem that has a higher s/w version (3.2). Since the replacement is a little different (New E-Box), I need an advice if this is going to be a straightforward...

    prints from film

A flat-bed scanner with a transparency attachment, preferably A3 size, with an optical resolution of at least 1200 dpi should do. If you'll need to scan 4 color separations you'll probably need to outsource it.
