Do you charge clients for preepress re-design?

Here is the scary part to me. I have been in this since 1990. Back when customers expected to pay for every piece of film, plate, and expensive match print that their bad designing cost. I personally put the change at right when Epson printers and direct to plate came online. Suddenly, proofs...

    Really Enfocus? Really?

I got right on this one. Been running it since yesterday morning. SO far, so good. Except, as is still the case...Acrobat 11 SUCKS!!!!!!!

Customer Supply Live File vs PDF...

As one that "feeds" two separate digital web presses at 30,000 fpm, I agree that native is better. Until that glorious day when my customers know as much about the equipment that I feed as I do - well, let me have the tools to do my job.

    Just out of curiosity

My only concern with the two drives is the firmware issue. I am not sure if I am playing safely or not. I learned a valuable lesson when I powered down mac tower one, pulled the drive that I had just wiped and installed from scratch on 10.8.5 Then, stuck it into a mac tower that was born within...

    Automated Preflight

Because our customers are not educated in bleed, plate gap, etc, we still receive 90 plus percent of our files as INDD files with art and fonts. They come in packaged with each having a fonts, links, etc folder. Our folder structure requires all links to go into one folder. This gets tedious...

    Heisenberg

I think that Heidelberg could retake some of the market if they would just change their name to Heisenberg.

    Just out of curiosity

I do it (and always have) out of sense of curiosity. I take a spare hard drive on my tower with a spare SSD hard drive. I erase the drive and clean install everything. I work from a point of view of, "If I had to buy a brand new mac tomorrow for my departments, could they function with 10.9...

    Really Enfocus? Really?

That was a very fair response. I appreciate it and will await the word that Pitstop 12 runs on Mavericks.

    Really Enfocus? Really?

Oh, not I. I have a separate hard drive with a fresh install of everything. I test it well before it goes out. It is just sad that I have to buy Quark 10 (ARRGGHHH!) and that Pitstop has no solution. Other than that, so far, it rocks.

    Really Enfocus? Really?

How long has the golden master for 10.9 been to suppliers like yourself? And yet, you release Pitstop Pro 12 without the ability to run in Mavericks?

Enfocus announces strategic partnership with Monotype to solve missing fonts in PDF

Two years ago, I took my Pitstop Server and pointed to a folder with 12,000 or so fonts. I then tell it to look there and embed. It gets 95 percent if not more? The only ones I regularly get burned are like Zapf Dingbats which will not allow a fully embedded version. I tell my customer to use...

    Creative Cloud updates

14.1.2 - HA! You are behind! Tongue in cheek. I guess maybe it did need to do the update from 14.1.1 to 14.1.2

    Creative Cloud updates

OK, obviously, I must be doing something wrong? Every single day....."You have FOUR updates" So, I do the four updates. But, my CS6 remains at 8.02 Never going to 8.03 Photoshop CC is one of the updates every day as well. Are the programs THIS screwed up, or is it not updating them? Yes, I...

    Creative Cloud Install

I guess my question is this. Instead of me downloading from the Adobe servers ONE time a 2 gigabyte file...I got the pleasure to download it nine times. Good times. THANKS Adobe!

Slit Nest / Right Angle Fold

OK, I am SO excited over what I just did that I have to tell somebody. Now, to those of you that have been doing this since V 5 (INDD), please do not throw water on my parade. Plenty of times, we get in 17 x 11 art that has P1 on the left and P3 on the right. Then, the corresponding backs on...

How long have ya been doin' this?

Got my first Print Shop "toy" at the age of 10. Had a little drum and small letters you would place with tweezers. Of course, the "My Neighborhood Newsletter" that they showed never quite materialized. I got into this at the perfect time in my opinion. 1990. Macs were just coming online. I got...

This is how I will know the end is near....

And yet, you go to the "shows", and the CEOs and the people that could not tell the difference between an APPE Pdf and a 1.3 will gladly buy into software that will "fix" all of their PDF woes. I've been doing this since 1990 and I am past cynical. At this point, I am jaded.

    Creative Cloud Install

Am I just stoopid? I have many operators under me that need to install CC. Indesign / Illustrator / Photoshop. They are all struggling, maxing out my bandwidth to kingdom come as they each, individually do the download. Can I not get an installer dmg that each of us could use, then log into???

    Acrobat CC

As to the entire "interface" concept. Could Adobe not make a simple "click" preference that gives me the "Secretary" vs the "Print Professional" look? If you read through the six pages of the forum, the overriding issue with Acrobat Professional XX (after 9.55) is that it looks like something a...

    Acrobat CC

Yeah, it scared me to state that I could not have multiple versions on. I hit OK anyway. Sure enough, I have 9, 10, and 11 all running.
