Thinking of moving to a New Workflow and Need Input

Prinergy can fix files. You will need a preflightplus option to do that. With it you'll have full featured callas preflight engine (well without variables, but still). And for everything else - rba. Imho it's easier, faster and cheaper than moving to different workflow

Grapho Metronic FM19 - Measurement problems

Yes, we do strip search but in a "semiauto" mode. Which means we adress certain ink zone to search for. Full auto colorbar search never work reliable enough. Not only scanners are fussy. Firmware and colorpilot app itself are fussy and unstable too

Grapho Metronic FM19 - Measurement problems

It doesn't says anything. Just shows wrong measurements. Like if you put different sheet with different colorbar

Grapho Metronic FM19 - Measurement problems

We have 6 printing presses equipped with FM19 densitometers. Some of the those densitometeres randomly fail on measuring colorbar if the colorbar starts with 50% Cyan, 50% Magenta or 50% Yellow (System Brunner colorbars) We've tried to address this issue: upgraded firmware for all heads (so they...

    Automation in prepress

Kodak Prinergy, yep for start up and running one do not need any programming skills. It's like Scratch for kids compared to real programming but if you want you can always dive deeper, 'cause with RBA it's supa easy — natively it supports visual basic and also you can create your own libraries...

    Plate Density...

So, you put them on the press, or clean with weak ipa solution and then measure "density" of imaged area? Is it some kind of voodoo magic for setting up correct exposure? are you sure you're using correct term "density"? 'Cause plate readers like Icplate from xriite do not measure density -...

    RGB to CMYK

Rip is not responsible for color transformation by itself. ICC profiles, conversion options (rendering intent, bpc etc.) and chosen CMS do the conversation.

Ink Density Uniformity on Circumferential Direction

I think that smaller deviation for ManRoland 900 is due to bigger ink train and maybe better oscillators. Larger deviation for our 700 is due to not-the-best roller condition :) Regarding your data — IMHO, normal density variation during run is 0.08 D across the sheet You won't see difference...

Ink Density Uniformity on Circumferential Direction

Could you tell us what uniniformity on press sheet tail to head you're trying to achieve? In my experience 0.08-0.10 D is fine for ManRoland 700 and 0.05-0.08 D is fine for ManRoland 900. in any case you should probably add to your checklist rollers condition both ink and dampening
