Cushioning Paper Void Filler Replacement for Plastic Pillows

So even more uses for the paper that we can't get. :)

    Gloss Paper is GONE...

We have had trouble getting paper all along, but if I was persistent for a few days I could always snag a skid here and there to keep everything we use in stock. Now is the first time that I can't find any text or cover weight gloss papers in 80# or 100#. We have had to shift everything over to...

    Ricoh 9210 output tray

We have that tray, as well as a stacker, on our machines. Ours will stack about 12" of gloss paper, but if you run more it says there is a mechanical fault. Our tech says the solution is to change a setting to allow less volume. It just seems to be a limitation of that component. The stacker is...

Extremely low priced labels on Printplace.com

We typically run small quantity roll labels in house on our solvent printer. It makes sense to send out to a specialty printer when the quantity gets up over 5,000.

Do you pass your discounts on to the client?

In a case like this I would say that it is silly for the end user to expect a discount. Even if there was no contract.

    Reinforcing labels/tabs...

    Thank you very much.

    Reinforcing labels/tabs...

The tabs we buy are easy to tear semi-translucent. The tape we apply is mylar. I can give those a shot, but my thought was that they were designed to be somewhat easy to tear. Size wise, we could easily do a 1" or even 1.5".

    Reinforcing labels/tabs...

We have a small tag that we do regularly with a hole drilled at the top. For years we have applied tape to the back of them when they are several up to reinforce the hole. Does anyone know of a source for tabs or labels we could use for reinforcing that come on a roll so we could apply it with...

    New Owner, new equipment

I wish we had those click rates. We have a 7210X that we are 3 years into and our click rates are .009 for B&W and .038 for color. I guess inflation hasn't hit the digital press market yet.

U.S. digital newspaper ad revenue to surpass print by 2026

But you had to confirm that they weren't important. You don't even need to do that with electronic ads. You can ignore them alltogether.

U.S. digital newspaper ad revenue to surpass print by 2026

I guess somebody pays attention to digital advertising. My brain just tunes it out and I couldn't tell you a single add I have seen digitally. On the other hand I tend to remember direct mail adds, at least for a while. You have to handle them, read them and decide if they are important.

    Tab cutting

We just use dies on our Heidelberg Cylinder for custom tabs. The machines aren't very expensive and they are pretty fast.

    Fuel Surcharge...

We had that a couple days ago. The tech came by and rebuild some parts, but didn't have what they needed to rebuild the fuser and returned a second time. We got two fuel surcharges. If fuel prices had gone down to 50 cents a gallon, would we be getting cheaper click rates? I seriously doubt it.

    Fuel Surcharge...

Makes ordering larger quantities of toner more important. If we try to order more than a two week supply of toner, it harps about us ordering too much and wants a written explanation, even though it sees every cartridge put in or out of the machines.

    Fuel Surcharge...

Our Ricoh machines are now charging us $10 fuel surcharges for ever service visit and every toner order. They came to rebuild parts and even charged $10 for that. I thought the point of a contract was to have reliable expenses.

scheduling a daily morning print to wake up my printer (Ricoh C5310)?

The customer is always right. Have you talked to Ricoh and told them what you are wanting? The machines are supposed to cater to the buyer instead of us working around their schedule.

Anyone using Euclidean dot and why? Sheetfed Offset

When our Linotronic was installed back in 1989 the installer recommended Euclidean dot and we kept using it until we bought a platesetter in 2017.

Pantone Alternative for Illustrator & Photoshop

We are a tiny little print shop, but our largest clients are very large billion dollar corporations and we get a sliver of their work. What I have seen over the past decades in our little area is the move from everything being pantone, to exactly what Dov said. The ad agencies for these...

Pantone Alternative for Illustrator & Photoshop

I would think that getting removed from Adobe software is going to cause Pantone to become much less relevant. I can't believe they aren't doing whatever they could to get Adobe to keep including them. Apparently graphic arts color is just a small part of their business, but I would still think...
