Who was the Greatest Person in History of Printing?

No votes for Benny Landa? Really? I'm shocked.

    Newbie

Run . . . run as fast as you can and don't look back. Wish somebody had told me that 15 years ago . . . Naw, just kidding. It's nice to see somebody new to printing with a positive outlook. Good luck with your new job.

    Illustrator CC 2015 Performance

I didn't remove any fonts, but I use a font manager. So in that sense I've added and removed many fonts, but not any systems fonts. GPU performance was enabled by default. I tried disabling it just to see and that made things worse (which you would expect).

    Illustrator CC 2015 Performance

Is it just me or is everything about CC 2015 SLOOOOWWWWWW? I have some files that lag even redrawing the workspace. For the record I'm running a Late 2014 iMac, 4ghz core i7, 24gb ram 512mb ssd, 2GB Radeon R9. So, I'm thinking it's not my hardware. And what is the story with thin lines not...

    Hiring Policy

The problem is that 75% of people believe they're better than average. And the other 25% still think they deserve average pay just for showing up.

    Big US holiday coming...

Thanks Gordo - That's terrible. I can't decide if I should laugh or cry.

    Quality Standards

There are so few good print buyers left in my segment of the industry. We basically see two types anymore, those who have no standards at all and basically will accept anything and those that complain about inane minutia often not even related to the printing process. Just once I'd like...

Basic handheld spectro for reading Lab values

Check out what Techkon has. I like their stuff better than x-rite anyway and they're less expensive. They're great to work with and their recertifications are much less expensive than x-rite. http://www.techkonusa.com

    Need help learning Rampage

You should probably start with a community college course or lynda.com subscription if you're asking about the difference between crop, art, bleed and trim boxes. Those terms aren't unique to Rampage or Pitstop - neither are the concepts of overprinting and knocking out (hint you should read...

    G7 Expert funding through WIA

First off, I don't mind paying taxes for those things. But they're a small fraction of what the government actually spends money on. Aside from defense and interest, most of the money the government spends is on transfer payments. Like giving the OP a free G7 certificate. If that G7...

    G7 Expert funding through WIA

I don't care if this forum isn't about politics, the OP made it about politics when he thanked the government for playing Robin Hood. So now that we're on the topic I want to add on to what AP90 said here. It isn't just about how much of my profit they take. In years where there isn't much...

    G7 Expert funding through WIA

Until I read your most recent reply I wasn't angry. But I am a little peeved now. Yes, I considered what I wrote carefully and reread it. Did you read what I wrote? Let me put it for you more plainly and perhaps you can understand my frustration. The government you, and people like you...

    G7 Expert funding through WIA

I have personally attended a G7 training. The word expert might be over the top, but grey balancing a press (for whatever it's worth) with modern measurement tools and software isn't exactly rocket surgery. 3 days is plenty.

    G7 Expert funding through WIA

I apologize if I was quick to jump on the bully pulpit and for overlooking the humor. I'll admit that I have a bit of a sore spot for some posts on here tho. The printing company owner is generally reduced to 1. the idiot who sank the company or 2. the tightwad jerk who eschews raises...

    G7 Expert funding through WIA

You mean courtesy of the US taxpayer (or more accurately half on the US taxpayer and half on the US creditors). The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.

    Laid Off

Claude, don't you think that's a little over the top? I've never had to do a layoff, but I've fired people and I assure you they all richly deserved it. The ones who were upset about it generally had a sense of entitlement . . . well similar to the one that probably makes you think of such...

    How We Can Enchance Knowledge

First of all Gordo, I should definitely say thank you. I'm undoubtedly one of the people who has learned from your blog and never said anything to you. Although I assure you I'm not ungrateful. It probably doesn't do you much good that I speak reverently about you and your blog when I talk...

    Metrix 2015

Is anybody out there using Metrix 2015 yet? We just upgraded and there are some nice new features, but the JDF export is driving me nuts. I'm not sure if I'm being stupid here but - the old Metrix would just preserve whatever settings you last used in a jdf export. In particular the...
