Thoughts on Xerox Versant 3100 ??

Our experience with the 3100 is just about opposite of Soggy's. We love our machine. We have just over 4 million clicks on it and it runs like a champ. We actually moved over to this machine from a 1000i also. I think the colors are better on this machine, and the finishing options are a lot...

    Social Media

Fully agree with you. I cringe every time someone starts complaining about they got fired or got their social media account suspended because they said something. "this is America, I have free speech". True, the government can't shut you down, but if I hire you and tell you that you can't say...

    Canon C10000VP VS Ricoh 9200

We run about 180k/month on our Versant 3100. Pretty good production numbers. We are probably on 3 months right now of the same fuser and its components. If I had to call service every 4-6 weeks for fuser maintenance, id be looking at a different printer. Hell, we don't see maintenance for a...

    Canon C10000VP VS Ricoh 9200

Honestly, power consumption shouldn't be a deal breaker when considering a machine of this caliber. Your looking at what, maybe $100/month at most in power consumption. I know when we installed our Xerox 1000i we thought it was going to spike our utilities bill. Ended up costing around $10/month...

Who searches Craigslist and Facebook for deals?

So just like the title says, who constantly looks at these places for deals on equipment? Ive been wanting to upgrade my 2011 iMac and have been searching around. Ended up finding a 2018 Mac mini i3 a person not too far away from me was selling. They originally listed it as an i7. Hooked it up...

Staple problem with Duplo DBM 150

My guess would be the bottom plate is misaligned in some way. Id check it for levelness and to make sure its perpendicular to the staple head.

    Xerox V180 Power Issue

I don’t think it’s necessarily the fact they didn’t mention having a bups or anything. It’s that the conditions of your building caused the failure. Regardless if it was under your control or not. it would be the same as if a power surge caused a fire and damaged the machine. Your comprehensive...

    Ricoh Drum Life Question...

My guess is it comes down to money. Im not experienced with Ricoh, but I've watched videos on KM's and they mentioned they had service come out to replace drums. Our Xerox 3100 is user replaceable in about 30 seconds. Im guessing Xerox could make drums that last substantially longer, but would...

    Just a Printer on YouTube

Thanks for the info! I love watching other print shops and how they do things. Guy seems like he's got a pretty good gig going for a 1 man shop. And some pretty decent equipment. Amazing what you can learn from stuff like this too.

    Nanographic Printing

A digital press that runs at slow offset speeds, with the cost effectiveness of offset for longer run. That is the only major print technology that has yet to be developed IMO.

    Geekbench testing for Macs/workstations

Do any of you ever Geekbench your workstations or look at what other machines are running at? I was amazed to find that the old tower Mac Pro's with 12 cores are still out running anything other than the brand new i9 core iMacs. And the new mac mini's pack a pretty hard punch and beat out...

    New Digital Press Suggestion

Alright, heres some actual recommendations based on what you have stated. 1. The 1000i is a great machine. We used to have one. It ran like a champ, but when it broke, it was major. Replacing drums were a PIA just because they had to be screwed out and what not. DFE was fast as long as you got...

    New Digital Press Suggestion

I was going to agree with you on this. A 50-75k variable data run seems huge. Client must have some deep pockets for something like that lol.

    New Digital Press Suggestion

Are you saying you want to move over runs of 100-150K 6x9 postcards, or are you running a monthly total of 100-150k postcards? If its single runs of 100k+, good luck with digital...

    Xerox Versant 180 mottling

We run Moo-Rim (i think thats what the spelling is) from Midland Paper all the time and have never had issues with it. Its a pretty economical stock coming from Korea i believe. Also run Carolina c2s and it always seems like its hit or miss on solids.
