Sounds like they mean color registration issue where the colors are not aligned. What does it do if you print something on just 20# letter size? If it doesn't work on at in the menu on the printer you can run color registration.

If they take the finisher off and it gets rid of the marks I would think the finisher is the problem right? I have see other machines where it's so hot coming out that the rollers in the finisher leave marks. If that's the problem maybe you can run at a lower temp or just take off the finisher.

How many color pages are there in a binder? Could you print the color pages then put them in an inserter on the black and white machine to avoid doing a bunch of stuff by hand?

On all of the Ricoh stuff they sell as production face up is straight through. I have worked on some kodak and on those face down is straight through.
