You can get a 136 ppm version of the Ricoh. The Canon 140 would only be 4 ppm faster unless you are seeing slowdown and the machine isn't running at the full speed. Gotta move up to the varioprint 6000 series for a big increase :-) or more machines :-)

You should be able to use it to calibrate any machine. I know I have used spectrophotometers from other brand machines on mine.

Look around under user tools > system settings > admin tools. If the machine has the data overwrite card there will be an option to erase the drive in there.

Even with auto duplex it's could make a difference which side is printed first. I would say the high coverage side second but if it doesn't do what you want don't be afraid to try something else.
