Hydraulic Cutter advice- Baum/Polar or Challenge?

If they are maintained, greased regular, occasional hydraulic leak, etc.. Challenge is hard to beat. Some parts are getting hard to find on older models. Note: The Titans are a light duty model.

OKI 9431 alternatives more suited for our business

Toner printing, is melted plastic, "fused" to paper. Thus the gloss look on larger patches of black print. I run an OCE BW 6180 which uses heat, but does not fuse the toner. Instead it traps the toner in the paper fibers. No gloss sheen. However, there is a drawback. Larger patches of black can...

Avoid this cut problem on spines of books with guillottine

But that's not enough. I suspect your blade is too dull. When was it honed last? The picture of the trailing tail points to dull blade. Try pushing the books spine side, all the way to the edge of the platform, into the leading edge of the blade. Is there a flat side side/edge of the platform to...

Avoid this cut problem on spines of books with guillottine

Avoid this cut problem on spines of books with guillottine

OK.. The cutting blade should be moving horizontally a little. (Or angling downward) From the yellow note book picture.. Does it move from the right to left looking from this angle. ? It seems to have a very flat profile. Odds are, in this example, holding the book flat, including the spine, is...

Avoid this cut problem on spines of books with guillottine

Sorry to say, you may have to cut one at a time for best result. In this line of work, it often appears to be simple and easy, but one finds that there are a thousand little details to watch out for. The nature of the biz.

Avoid this cut problem on spines of books with guillottine

AHH.. I see your cutter is not as I imagined it. Your main problem is the curvature of the spine. I hope you are facing the spine into the cut. Not away. The spine should be contacting the blade first.

If the clamp has a flat face pressing down, the flat steel plate is called a false clamp. If you look/ feel under the clamp and you feel finger like surfaces, you do not have a "false" clamp. Used to prevent the finger like castings leaving their impressions. The pads will work either way...

Bizarre issue with Ricoh flipping every fourth page 180 degrees

If it was just a case fan, I would probably not worry about that.. The bigger problem might be the grid power. A brown out, or a spike most certainly could damage the boards in the RIP, and/ or change an otherwise invisible setting. Lastly.. From own experience, looking hard at a bunch of...

    Card lamination issues from Ricoh

I would ask if the chemistry of the ink has recently changed. Has it been subjected to extreme temps before use? Hot or Cold. Any chance it got contaminated? (All I got. Good luck)

Avoid this cut problem on spines of books with guillottine

Well, looks like you don't have any squaring on the spine. That's gonna make it hard to fix. OR is it supposed to be more square than the pic shows? To avoid crushing the spine, use magnetic pads on the false clamp, and leave a space in the pad an inch short of the spine. So that the flat of...

    Best envelope printer?

Hi. Are you sending the job as #10 size? To increase your speed significantly, (though not really doubled) set your document to Letter (or A4) size, with the #10 image at top center Landscaped orientation. LEF You should find they will run much faster.
