Water type streaks in printing jobs

Every techs go-to diagnoses.. It's the paper. It's very seldom the paper. (Excepting perhaps poorly cut.. cut sheets.)

    New to the digital printing

A single machine sounds good, but it's a gamble. When it goes down, depending naturally on why.. you may be down for a few days or more. Redundancy is insurance..

    Excessive revisions and proofs

Update: The original file is still pending.. 3/6.. But.. No more proofs.. We've since produced a different title for him, small qty. So.. still wondering if he's taken the job elsewhere, or just lost momentum. Guess we'll see. N.

Paper wave/curl caused by office laser printer

This is common on toner printers.. I think a part of the problem is the toner. It may be putting down too much (or perhaps a lot is normal for it). Notice the wave gets more noticable near the top of the pile. We see this when we pile a lot of sheets. The thickness of the toner, although very...

    Ricoh Tech Conversation Today...

I don't know much about Fiery, but if you ask me.. It sounds like it may be a power supply issue to the PC box, or possibly a mother board getting flaky. Any chance the bios in the box was reset? May need to tweak some settings in the bios. (cmos? same thing) OH.. And I've never tried that on a...

    Overs and Unders

We charge for up to 10% overs. But it's clear to the customer before hand. Some insist on exact counts.. No problem. Very rare to send short. Even 1's and 2's.. We make them up, or charge only for the shipped count. Easier to do in a digital shop.

Finding Good Employees ? Are We Crazy

I found, the hard way.. The more you accommodate an employee, the more they take advantage. Not to mean you treat them badly, but very often, being a hard ass gets more respect and work out of certain types. Not all people are this way. Managing ego's is a huge part of the job.

Microsoft Print to PDF driver and difficult documents

I've found printing bad PDFs to a new PDF (with Acrobat PDF printer) fixes a lot of minor errors. It's my first go-to when there's an error on a page. (I'm not dealing with your level of problems) Another thing I've had some success with on problem files, is the Acrobat Sanitise option, under...

How to add a binding margin in Acrobat Pro?

Quite Imposing is very powerful and I use it daily.. Mine is an older version, so it possible this has changed. If you are shifting a mix of single sided and double sided, you will need a blank page after the single sided pages. I don't think you can tag a page as single sided otherwise.

SOLVED - Iridesse streaks - charge wires?

We've had the same issues, with haze deposit everywhere. RO system combined with softener system cured it. We went with a Merlin humidifier sys. Expensive but effective. Once the haze reaches your sensors.. you'll have a lot of problems. (Note: Merlin did not provide the softener sys. We did...

    Excessive revisions and proofs

Dealing with that exact scenario right now. A new client with a small half decent job. Started out as a huge rush.. Some minor tweaks on the cover file, which arrived a flat jpeg. Here we are a month later.. still waiting for a final approval after tweaking the cover at least 6 times (I think...

    The Raise

I quit a job that offered me a 17 cent raise. (A lot of years ago now) I told them, that's not a raise, it's an insult. Turned and left the building.

Any Idea how this is printed

Well. It probably does suffer. Just not a lot.. in the pic you sent it's clear there's a lot of splash in the dimples. It's Ink Jet. but not one that sits 0.15mm high. It's more like 1mm or 1.5 mm or more off the subject surface. Depending on the surface being addressed.

    Duplo Dusense doing labels

It's hard to think of ANY piece of equipment I've run in 30 plus years in this biz.. that I didn't have to jerry rig something on it. Or work around the designed software BS. And sometimes.. the first things to do are to defeat the very often ridiculous "safeties" that only contribute to safety...

    Konica 7100 second pass printing

We also do sleeking.. with overprint. We have to add a lot of stroke thickness to the foil image, to then print on top with toner, to make it appear to line up better when that kind of accuracy is needed. Toner does not stick well to foil, but it seems to work ok most of the time. EDIT: Foil...
