Stay away from the Formax Colormax 7. Uses memjet. If you don't buy quality envelopes, you're hosed. We just replaced it with a Xante Impressia and this think kicks butt.

What program are you doing your design in? I would just set up a 4.25 x 11 page with .25" guides around the edges and make sure your work stops at those guides. Or, if you can talk the customer into a slightly smaller size, say 4 x 10.75, then you could bleed files to your hearts content.

We don't have carpet, but I doubt static would be an issue with those humidity levels. I googled it and 40-50% is high enough to avoid static discharges.

The nice part is, if it's the same thing printing every month, you just save your template and just link the new data file each month.

We use data out of BCC mail manager. When printing/exporting the list (including IMb info) we just have to print to a "label image". If your piece is more than one up, you would set your labels to however many up the final file is going to print.

We use Nekoosa Universal and have very few problems on our Ricoh 751.

We have the same problem on 3 part using our color copier. The only parts that mark are the canary and pink. The white is fine. This is because the roller is grabbing the paper and is actually smudging the carbonless "ink" when it grabs the sheet.

We use planet press. Good program. The only other I could think of is Fusion Pro.

We're doing a box of 500 number 10's in about 6 minutes (simple black, no heavy coverage).

We just got our Impressia. I love it. (Be aware, my opinion is jaded as we were using a Formax Colormax 7 POS). But I like our new Xante. We also went through Ricoh. Has an adjustable fuser for thicker envelopes so if we get a 10 x 13 in, we just make the adjustment and run.

Can't you just grab the marks in Indesign and convert them to black only before exporting?

We bought a Formax Colormax 7. If I had to do it again, I'd probably go laser instead of inkjet......

Depends on who it is. If it's an established client, we tend to front the postage and just invoice them for it when we bill the job. For newer clients (or smaller clients), we like to have a check before or when we drop the mail. We don't have it come into our system for accounting purposes. We...

Take a look at the attached. I printed to Adobe pdf out of InDesign and turned on separations. The page was 5 color with some text in PANTONE Black C. It gave me a separated pdf. Is this what you're looking for?
