Turning ligatures off within a PDF?

Wondering if it is possible to turn off ligatures within a PDF, using either Acrobat Pro or Pitstop. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Assingning a Pantone to a pattern swatch. Doable?

Thanks, Lukas. I am in CS4 and trying to use Re-Color Artwork, but I am unable to get any spot color options. This is what I get (see attached screen grab).

Assingning a Pantone to a pattern swatch. Doable?

I have been supplied a pattern swatch. It currently has a HSB color recipe for the background color. I need it to be a Spot color. It appears all I can do is assign it CMYK, RGB, Web RGB, Tints, Lab, or HSB values. Am I overlooking something? I'm in CS4. Thanks in advance.

Select "Same Fill Color" in Pitstop?

    Perfect! Thanks, DCurry!

Select "Same Fill Color" in Pitstop?

I have a PDF in which the 100K black text is now reading 91k, due to the way the InDesign .ps was ripped. Is there anyway, in Pitsop, to select all elements that are 91k and change them to 100k? Similar to Illustrator's Select Same Fill option? Re-running a .PS is not an ideal option since many...

    Does Photoshop Elements support CMYK?

Does Photoshop Elements support CMYK? I don't need it to do a CMYK conversion, I am just wondering if it will open CMYK files, and leave the numbers as-is. I'm working with an illustrator who only has Elements and wants to do some re-touching to existing CMYK files.

What is this icon in Bridge?

No, that was perfect, Lukas. Thanks! I've dealt with RAW images before, but have never noticed this icon. What confused me was why some RAW files had the icon, while others did not. Thanks again.

What is this icon in Bridge?

I have been previewing some Raw files in Bridge and some of them have a gray circular icon at the top right corner of the preview image, and others don't. Not sure what this icon is trying to tell me. I've attached a screen-grab. Based on the icon, I'm assuming it has something to do with an...

PDF not cropping content data to frame. Total PAIN!

Yes, when I copied the image from into a new doc and Exported, using the same settings, I did not have the same problem. I wasn't able to do that for the entire catalog, so I ended up Distilling .PS files, which worked fine. I've been totally swapmed at work, so I've had to put this problem on...

PDF not cropping content data to frame. Total PAIN!

I tried getting the file down below 5mb (per attachment limit), and I couldn't. Even as a single page with a 100dpi link. I then just copied the image to a new document and when I made a PDF it was fine. So, now I need to figure out what it is about this original document that is causing the...

PDF not cropping content data to frame. Total PAIN!

Some answers to your questions: - stroke is applied in InDesign Default Black swatch .25pt - images are flattened TIFs - there are no clipping paths, alpha channels or the like in the image - I have tried "Crop Content Data to Frame" both checked and unchecked, both give the same result - I have...

PDF not cropping content data to frame. Total PAIN!

Hi, Lukas. I'm uploading what will hopefully be a higher quality image. I didn't realize how lousy my original images were, until after I submitted the post. The issue, on this specific image, is on the left side. And, yes, there is a .25pt Black stroke on the image, as well as an InDesign...

PDF not cropping content data to frame. Total PAIN!

I've just come across an issue while prepping our Fall 2011 catalog. The print vendor wants the PDFs layered and with live transparency. After we created the PDF (144 pages containing approx 500 images) we noticed, on several images, that the content of the image extended past the frame of the...

    Soft-proof policies.

First off, I must say I did search this topic before submitting this post. And while there are lots of posts regarding soft-proofing, I couldn't find any that really matched the info I am looking for. I'm wondering what policies people have regarding soft-proofing (or it may be that the proper...

Borders files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection

I had forgotten all about Strawberries. I bought my first tape there: Motley Crue, Shout At The Devil. In contrast to Borders, Barnes and Noble, along with their Nook, are doing quite well in the brick and mortar environment. They've also changed their footprint to include toys and games, though.

2 things I wish InDesign had, which Quark does have

Wonky title, I know. There are 2 things that I used often in Quark which are not available in InDesign (at least, I am not aware of them being available). They are: 1). Being able to globally change the Overprint attributes of a spot color. In Quark you could select a Spot color, Edit -...
