Spot Colors only preview in black - regardless of their InDesign CMYK recipe

These are TIFs, just but bitmap color space.

Spot Colors only preview in black - regardless of their InDesign CMYK recipe

Now that I knew exactly what I was looking for I was able to find this. https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2170258

Spot Colors only preview in black - regardless of their InDesign CMYK recipe

Other than the Spot image being a Bitmap. After some further testing it looks as though the issue has to do with Bitmaps. Place a bitmap and colorize it 100Cyan, it will preview as Black until you go to Overprint Preview. I tested colorized Grayscale TIFS as well, those behave as they should.

Spot Colors only preview in black - regardless of their InDesign CMYK recipe

Correct. Normal View (GPU Preview) shows the spot as black (even if it is 100 Yellow). Changing to Overprint Preview or Viewing Separations shows it as the correct color.

Spot Colors only preview in black - regardless of their InDesign CMYK recipe

Recently upgraded to ID 2015.4 and discovered that Spot Colors no longer preview the way the used to. For example, we have a book jacket that has a foil stamp. We create a spot color "Foil Stamp" and assign it a color in ID. Typically, while the designer is still working on the file the spot...

    Fogra47 has a larger gamut than Fogra39?

I'd say it is a problem with Color Sync, but the odd part is that all other profiles look "normal". The Fogra 39 and 47 profiles have such an odd shape in Color Sync. They are far more "blob" shaped that all other profiles. See the screenshots of both Gracol13 (top) and Fogra39 (bottom). I even...

    Fogra47 has a larger gamut than Fogra39?

Strange. My shapes aren't even close to yours. For what it's worth, and I should have mentioned this in my initial post, I am using ISO Coated V2 300% (for ECI) for Fogra39 and PSO Uncoated ISO12647 (ECI) for Fogra47. What are you using?

    Fogra47 has a larger gamut than Fogra39?

I was comparing some profiles, using ColorSync, and I am confused by the differences in Fogra47 (uncoated) and Fogra39 (coated). Have a look at the attached screenshot. The ghosted profile is Fogra47, the non-ghosted profile is Fogra39. I can't understand why 47's gamut is larger in some areas...

    Does anyone use Quark anymore?

We still use it for our some of older backlist titles, and we do work with other publishers who still use it and never switched over to ID.

Printing a .PS of a specific separation and including Blank Pages. Is it doable?

What happens, at least for me, is once you change your output to be separations the checked "Print Blank Pages" button becomes unchecked. You have to go back to that panel to see it.

Printing a .PS of a specific separation and including Blank Pages. Is it doable?

Before this post gets hijacked or off-topic let me state that we are using a separation based workflow in which all text is a single ink (generally black) but on a separate plate from the process inks. This is so countries from all over the globe can print together sharing the same 4/c plates...

Links Info in ID inconsistent when showing ICC profile

I wouldn't think any of this would apply if I have disabled CM within InDesign, which I have and had before this document was created. Probably should have mentioned that earlier.

Links Info in ID inconsistent when showing ICC profile

Within the Links Info of the Links palette, the ICC Profile doesn't give consistent/accurate details. For example, I have an interior book file that has 20 links, all of which have the PSO Uncoated ISO 12647 (ECI) profile embedded. Out of the 20 links, only one of them lists that profile in the...

    Pitstop and Acrobat DC

Yes, Joe, that is what I am talking about. Those yellow icons for the 'category' and then i get the same icon, just red instead of yellow, for all of the actual Pitstop tools.

Ah-ha. That's one thing I left out. Thanks, Dan!

    Pitstop and Acrobat DC

I'm definitely doing something different than PrintIT. I have the Pitstop tool added in the main Tools area, but they are all just the generic icon.
