    Printer turns down work

Gonna throw some gas on the fire . . . what if the "customer" wanted a racist poster made, or perhaps graphic pornography, what would the group do then, we have in the past turned down work which we found to be personally offensive or inflammatory. But, on the other hand we helped a gay group...

Printing Evolution - Thirty Years Past to Present

Gordo, I could have used either of your photos to make my point . . . I agree that there is a place for production, i.e.newspapers (the few that are left) and mass produced cars (Toyotas, Kias, Fords/Cheverolet (not counting the Ford GT or the high end Corvettes), but then lets take a look at...

Printing Evolution - Thirty Years Past to Present

Well, what really surprises me is when a "contemporary designer" comes in and wants that "letterpress look" and expects to see a debossed version of printing because they really like the look . . . I laugh and then get out the book Linotype Keyboard Operation which was published in 1940 and I...

    Running a DI Press

1st why do you want a DI other than the economics of the "no click charge" What is the mix of work you plan to run on it . . . all process color or mostly 1 or 2 color? If your not considering process color work you could pick up a 1 or 2 color GTO and get a laser plate setter (we use a Xerox...

paper stuck on blanket hp indigo press 3050

Been a while since we had and indigo, it was a Turbo1000 and paper sticking to the blanket is a real bug a boo. As i recall there is or was a 'release layer" that facilitates 100% in transfer to the sheet. I am assuming that your press was ready to print and the blanket was up to temp. You can...

We had a graphic wizzard perf/number machine early on . . .. it did the job and hopefully they have improved them over the years we kept ours about 2 years and then basically threw it away . .. personally if the space is not an issue I would surely keep the GTO even for one run a week . . and...

NCR work done Digital or Offset?

Si, I was focusing on Craigs suggestion of a graphic wizzard for the crash numbering . . . Is the square footage the press takes up that big an influence? Do you make the plates inhouse . . . if you don't need the space and you make your own plates at a low cost I would keep the GTO and maybe...
