Odystar - Getting Dimensions of the Trim Box

you could just set up the routing gateway to route based on trim box size to a xpath expression.

    Power Layout and Plato

pretty much the same thing. Plato is former Esko and Powerlayout is former Artworks. Plato runs on PC only and the big difference is that it creates smartmarks that are more powerful and can be used with backstage or automation engine.

    Odystar Conditional Routing

I love automation Engine. In all my years working with workflows (Brisque, Taiga, Nexus, Odystar, Prinergy etc...) I truly believe that automation engine is the best all around workflow.

    Odystar Conditional Routing

well getting out xmp data can be "interesting" The routing gateway has the ability to either read the information via a XMP tag or a Xpath Expression. It really depends on how the information is written. If you would like to post the file, I will download it and get back to you with the...

    Odystar Conditional Routing

Actually you would use the Hold gateway. 1. Set the "Output Options List" to your choices 2. Click the Auto release tab and select "Enable Auto Release" and set the "Auto Release Time" to 00:00:00 3. Make "Auto Release Output" the public parameter. This will allow your operator to choose...

    Preps 6 and Nexus

You can always use Shuttle to send the JDF to Nexus. When you do this, just make the "Include Ink" section of the nexus RIP a public parameter. Once you have done this, when you submit your JDF it will ask you what separations you wish to output. Not as simple as doing it in the older versions...

From Nexus to RAMpage - has anyone done it?

Nexus is clearly a better solution for multiple markets (CP, Label, Packaging). Rampage has a much cheaper yearly Maintenance cost. But that only gives you support and not new versions of the software. This may not be a big deal as I'm not sure how often they update rampage anymore. Other...

    Links and Pages

Sounds like you have a old Nexus classic CT/LW workflow running. The EPS is a Nexus Link file (Lores FPO) and the OPO is a Optimized postscript (Hires). This is just Artwork Systems version of a OPI workflow.

Problem with 3d shapes in esko studio toolkit for labels

Correct, illustrator requires that all collada files have a printable area. No printable area means no art board essentially. Esko offers a service to either build your 3d shape or add a printable area to one (not sure what they charge) or like Simon says you can do it yourself depending on how...

How to create a 1 bit tiff from ESKO

This is correct, but Esko has more then just the Flex Rip. If you have power layout, you might want to make sure you don't have a old Nexus or Odystar RIP license.

Anyone upgrade from Nexus to AE10?

My understanding from the roadshow is that, AE10.0 is for the backstage users. AE10.1, due out in a month or so (I believe) is for the Nexus Customers with the Nexus Artpro customers. AE10.2 due out next year is for the Odystar and Nexus PDF customers. hope this helps.

I believe it has. Esko's support team sent me a link for the Apple update.

    Switching to Illustrator…

It depends on what kind of stepping you are doing. Esko has Powerlayout for Illustrator that allows you to do tabular step and repeat via plug in. Power layout will eventually do all of the Cad based and nested but this is not going to be in until Drupa 2012. So, yes tabular. No nested or cad based.

JDF from Preps to Nexus PDF Workflow

I have seen this problem with Dynastrip, you can't control the colors coming from JDF. While your problem sounds a bit different, you can use the same solution that we use. In our JDF2PDF workflow, we made a public parameter for the RIP in the Include Separations option. This way when we...
