Re: Asura System by OneVision I used it at my last job (newspaper) and loved it. We ran all outside PDFs through it and eventually ran all pages through it. It works great... probably the best Preflighting app out there. I set up some simple automator scripts to move the PDFs into it.

Re: Working from home? You have a really old school way of thinking. We run a 100% PDF workflow and we don't convert to PostScript. It's 2008 now, not 1999. Guess what... I also sometimes work from home (gasp) with no problems.

Re: Rampage or Prinergy? That doesn't make Rampage better than Prinergy. Sound like you are just bitter against Kodak. Applications get discontinued and dropped all the time.

Re: Rampage or Prinergy? Why is everyone bashing Kodak? We switched from Rampage to Prinergy this year and I would never go back to Rampage. Prinergy 3 and 4 are much better in my opinion.

Re: Odd bug -- type in PDF appears on screen but disappears on the RIP I've have seen this happen in older RIPs. Does your RIP support PDFs higher than 1.3? At my last job the RIP would only take 1.3. We actually had to Print to PS and then Distill to a 1.3 out of ID CS.

Re: A Prinergy Refine question We refine with trap and convert to process right off the bat. The only reason we do a second refine is to map colors. Some jobs that come in over Insite I have setup to keep spots with no trap. If needed we do a second refine to trap and or convert spots to process.

Re: MacBook Pro and battery life My MBP's battery life slowly decreased since purchasing it in January. I called up Apple and they sent me out a new battery and it has been great ever since. Maybe you should give that a try? It was free... I think there is a recall on the batteries.
