    Storing Customer Files

We don't keep customer job folders on our local workstations, all job files are on a shared server and we work on them over the network. Files are organized like so; File server is arranged by customer - each customer has its own folder (list view, alphabetically). Inside of those are the...

Rampage v13 to XMF or Prinergy.

With XMF, major software updates are included in the support contract. With Kodak, you will pay. In the long run, XMF will cost less.

    Two Different RIPs to Trendsetter

Hi, we are not using (didn't opt for) RBA, and we are running Prinergy Connect v 4.1.2.6 (no bypass refine feature). I've checked, and we don't have a license for the tiff download in print console for sure. I believe it's $2500 for the license.

    Two Different RIPs to Trendsetter

Thanks for the replies. We are running Prinergy Connect, and it is not currently writing 1bit tiffs, it is printing directly to the trendsetter. Found out we just need to buy the license for the tiff catcher/download feature in Print Console to receive tiffs from the second RIP.

    Two Different RIPs to Trendsetter

zombie: It is not really going to be a "second" RIP, but the "new" RIP. I just want to be able to plate with either during the transition period. esmith24214: I'm not really asking if the Trendsetter can be fed by TWO TIFF catchers. Right now, Prinergy is not writing 1-Bit TIFFs, it is a direct...

    Two Different RIPs to Trendsetter

Hi All, Hopefully I'm using the correct forum for this question. We are currently driving a Creo Trendsetter 800 II Quantum directly with Kodak Prinergy v4. We are looking at possibly upgrading to a different RIP system that would write 1-Bit tiffs and requires a Tiff catcher to feed the...

    Fuji LHP-J plate blinding problem

Since we use the Fuji LHPJ plates, and we experienced a problem that was characterized as "plate blinding", here is some info that may be of some interest: 1. The problem manifested as image areas that would fade or cease to print after a certain number of impressions (anywhere from 3,000 to...

    New Release CS 5.5

As far as I know, in InDesign, you can't turn off the background processing, but you can view the progress by opening the Background Tasks window (Windows:Utilities:Background Tasks). At least that way you know when your PDF is close to being finished.

How to handle the G7 compensation curve with scheduling of production

The answer to the actual original question is easy... for each job, just make a set of plates for every press. Extremely expensive and wasteful, but easy. Maybe you'd waste enough plates and money that they'd eventually realize that it's not a plating issue, it's a scheduling issue.

    White Screen Angle

Thanks for letting us know how it was resolved. Glad it worked out.

    White Screen Angle

Are you using negative or positive plates? Is the 4-color process also a gradient (is the white serving as a base for a process gradient)? This might sound silly because I'm just grasping at straws but, could you burn all four process colors (or just the white), at all four angles, on the same...

    Chairs For Prepress

I know this isn't exactly an answer to the original question but I, too, have Suffered (with a capital "S") with lower back pain and my surgeon recommended standing. I have a stand-up workstation table that I love and I feel a lot better. My legs do get tired occasionally but I tend to move...

Poll - Do you linearize your plates?

Just throwing my 2 cents in... We are fortunate in that we have a quality, consistent platesetter with the correct wattage setting for the type of plates we use (also, high quality and consistent. I won't mention brand names here because that's not the point and and I don't want this to look...

    Prinergy/ Trendsetter ??

We were told a couple years ago by a field tech that Kodak took access to the service area away from customers and that it is only accessible by service technicians, either on-site or remotely. Meaning; there is no license to that area.

    Agfa/Fuji Thermal Plates

We switched from Agfa to Fuji (Brilia LH-PJ) positive thermal plates and are very happy with them. We, too, were experiencing problems with not only the Agfa plates, but the whole dealer fiasco. The Fuji plates are tougher (more scratch resistant), they seem to last longer (200+ K), and our...

    CMYK Blues

I'm assuming, because of the quantity, that this was printed on an offset, rather than a digital, press. Regardless of the color; if the CMYK values are the same on the front and back, and the proof shows that they are the same, they should match on the final printed piece. This is just a bad...

    Fonts appearing as Unix files

Re: Fonts appearing as Unix files Sorry if my answer was confusing. The StuffIt issue (if this IS the issue) is not how you are expanding the files, but rather how the Preferences in StuffIt are set when the files are compressed at the sender's end. StuffIt can save a compressed file in several...
