    XML in InDesign CS4

Help... Does anyone understand this? At the minute, I have a vague sense of what is going on, but not enough. Basically we are creating an online business card ordering system which will send me xml files. Now I know I can import them, but at the minute it seems as though I have to reformat...

My print job smells like ink

I had someone ring the other day and ask if I could come over and help her connect her 2nd hand printer to her computer. When I told her that wasn't what we did, she insisted that we should as we were printers. "Maybe I could suggest someone who could help?" PC World. "Oh do they do that sort...

Hello, I am looking for one of these, I can find a few in the States, but none over here. Anyone have any ideas? Any help would be appreciated, we have 500 3 part NCR pads, 50 per pad to make up and this would save us loads of time. Thanks a lot!

    QM-46-2 control panel goes blank

Re: QM-46-2 control panel goes blank This happened to a QM I had years ago. From what I recall it was a board problem, they needed to replace the main cpu, I think. I know that this is no real help, but that is where I would suggest that you direct your attentions.

    CTP machines and heat

Re: CTP machines and heat We have a total nightmare with this problem. We were informed that between 20 -25c is the ideal. We hit 26c and all hell breaks loose. The laser starts "stepping" across the plate, then the machines decide to stop exchanging information. We have fixed the problem...

Quick solution to a scary PDF mess? ...help...

Re: Quick solution to a scary PDF mess? ...help... I am trundling through this. And I completely appreciate all the ideas you have put forward. I started down the InDesign route initially, but was having a problem picking the pages within the PDF (this was my own oversight through a haze of...

Quick solution to a scary PDF mess? ...help...

Re: Quick solution to a scary PDF mess? ...help... I have heard you mention that before, however, it seems to do the trick pretty well. I think that statement is akin to tropicana insisting that orange juice is not and should not be used as a mixer. I understand that purists get very...

Quick solution to a scary PDF mess? ...help...

Re: Quick solution to a scary PDF mess? ...help... I don't have Pitstop, though I do need it for several other reasons aside from this one. Fortunately they are not embedded so I can and am currently doing it on at a time in Illustrator...

Quick solution to a scary PDF mess? ...help...

Ok, I have been supplied with a 296 page book made up of 36 chapters as a PDF. The chapters have headers, and foot(ers?) that say Chapter 6, for example, but should read Chapter 4. That would be annoying enough if it wasn't compounded with the fact that each 6-15 page chapter has sub chapters...

    General Indesign question

Just a little question that would make life so much simpler. Does anyone know if & how you can tab through text boxes? A keyboard shortcut or what have you. If I could figure out how to do this, it would make me happy beyond my wildest dreams!

Indesign CS3 slow and memory hungry?

Re: Indesign CS3 slow and memory hungry? I have experimented a bit with the INX files, and have ended up with a couple peculiar results. Outlined boxes etc, it seems minimal. It's mostly files I have created, and in turn we print them, so, internally it's not a huge hassle. I'm to busy...

Indesign CS3 slow and memory hungry?

Re: Indesign CS3 slow and memory hungry? Hello, I would like my first post to be a very stupid question... and so- As I have CS3, should I start swapping all my files over to CS3 from CS2? It seems to want me to do that. Has anyone encountered problems or regrets with doing this? I figure...
