Looking for an upload form / FTP Replacement.

I 2nd Rumpus, its pretty amazing for something thats under $500. We use it everyday, clients upload files ranging from a few MB’s to a few GB’s. The upload forms are easy to create and you can set many different types of notifications and even folder triggers and scripts. I really don’t know...

    EPSON 9800 1440 dpi issue

I would try to run a nozzle test and head cleaning. Maybe even a power cleaning might be worth it. You should also check on the firmware of the printer, i know epson released a few since the printer came out. Then a paper feed calibration may also help. Im not sure that any of these would be...

EPSON 9900 Ink usage per sqft??

If you are using a RIP that has ink calculations, you can set it up to tell you how much the ink would cost for the print. I use Onyx ProductionHouse and it has ink calculations built in. You have to set your ink cost per ml in the printer setup. Its not 100% accurate but its close enough. A...

    Disposing of Epson Maintenance Tanks

I remember a while back seeing a kit that would attach a large dump bottle to the maintenance tank. It was a tube, bottle and a barbed fitting. You would drill a whole into the tank near the bottom of the handle and attach the fitting, tubing and bottle. The ink would drain into the collection...

    Backup/Archive Software

Hi, I would still recommend Retrospect either V6 which does work well even on 10.5 or V8 which now works on a G4 or G5. The new version does work and its worth considering and testing. The new features are great but im holding off until they can write to my V6 catalogs. I don’t want to go...

    Backup/Archive Software

Hi P, Retrospect 8 has felt like a beta for a while and in some cases it still is. The latest update has helped a lot and its much more usable now. I would try it out and see how it goes. Some really like it and some don’t. They want it to be perfect right out of the gate but its been so long...

    Backup/Archive Software

Ive had really good luck with retrospect 6 and have played with 8. We have a few LTO drives and a library that we have tested. For real tape backups i couldn’t think of anything better for the mac. On the PC end, youre open to so much more and better options. The retrospect PC version is more...

    Artwork Property

Same here, our policy is to keep files live for 30 days then archive permanently to LTO tapes. Restore fees are clearly marked in our pricing. We never give out interim files and that is also spelled out. They remain our property but the copyright is still the originators. The interim files...

    Onyx Production House Error

Just a shot in the dark, Do you have the dongle attached when you are trying to connect? Do you have an antivirus installed? Onyx says that error 11 may be caused by the antivirus eating files or affecting the app. You can also sign up for the ONYX Support Web Portal on the Onyx main site...

HP 5500- for signage or not for singage

I have a 5500 with UV inks, although i rarely use it anymore i have printed a few outdoor signs on it. The only way it will be weather "resistant", notice i say resistant...(well mildly resistant) is to use a matte vinyl. Or some other matte coated AQ paper that is rated for outdoor use. It...

    File Upload from Clients

Rumpus! Its the best files transfer server i have seen. It gives you a web site where your clients can login and upload and download files. You can set it to send you emails on uploads and or downloads. The page is pretty client proof. Even mine can do it!

    Backup to Tape

Your biggest bottleneck is usually the IO in the computer and not the tape drive/library. I had/have the same problem with our LTO1 and LTO2 drives, G4 & G5 servers and a Raid 5 scsi array. They are rated for more throughput then the computers IO and raid array can handle. Its the same with...

    Problem with Epson 7800

I would contact Epson regarding this issue. A friend of mine had something similar when they bought a new 9800. Basically the same printers. I think Epson replaced the print head and some sensors. Im not sure if the 3rd party service can fix it but it might be an option.
