    (Ricoh) Pro C7110x

Making room for a new machine, this one is in the way. This one is going to the recycling center in about 2 weeks if we can’t find a buyer. This is sold by Heidelberg as the Linoprint Pro, but I have confirmed with Ricoh USA that it is a Ricoh and that they service it. (Ricoh) Pro C7110x...

    Prinect to Impoproof?

Is it possible to write imposed PDF proofs to the Impoproof from Prinect? I had it working the other day, but now it's either rejecting the file or dying while processing in Image Processor. Any help is much appreciated!

    Imposition Proofing (offset)

We're using the ImpoProof system. Works very well, color is good, speed is incredible. Backs up nearly spot on every time. It has already eaten one prepress job here. We used to do our imposition proofing on an Epson too, and it took longer to print and back up one sig than the Impo takes to...

OS 10.5.5 Delete Confirmation Dialog Box Default

yes, it work with "certain servers", just hit the space bar. OK is highlighted when emptying the trash. It's opposite, and Cancel is highlighted, with servers.

OS 10.5.5 Delete Confirmation Dialog Box Default

Yes, it's in the Advanced pane of the Finder Prefs. You can turn the warning off there.

OS 10.5.5 Delete Confirmation Dialog Box Default

That was a nice switch for everybody who was used to deleting files quickly. When it asks for confirmation and the Cancel button is highlighted instead of Delete, just hit the space bar. My mouse is heavy too and I didn't like dragging it up there to hit Delete.

    GMG/Epson Calibration Problem

Thanks again for the input everybody. The techs were here last week and it looks like they have fixed it. It seems that a part on the print head would not adjust itself. I don't recall what it was, but there are some self-adjusters and one of them was not responding to commands at all. So, since...

    GMG/Epson Calibration Problem

Thanks for your input everybody. I have figured out part of the problem and have Epson #1 back on track now. We have a tech coming tomorrow with hardware for Epson #2, hopefully he can get it straightened out.

    GMG/Epson Calibration Problem

Yes, they have both been power cleaned and have had nozzle checks and alignment performed. The tech has pretty much rebuilt the entire brains of Epson 2, certainly put more time and money into it than what a new machine would cost I think.

    GMG/Epson Calibration Problem

Hi All, I've been running GMG Colorproof on 3 Epson Pro9800's for a couple years now. Calibration in GMG is done monday mornings and wednesdays at noon with DTP70. Our calibration readings have been consistently, over all this time, very close to our acceptable tolerances, meaning never more...

    Super Hot Cyan

Re: Super Hot Cyan Good question about the problem going away on the next job. Mysteriously, after the problem job, the plate disappeared and the press was washed up, etc. for the next job. Once again, I checked the job files, profiles, curves, etc. and the problem photos that I measured have...

    Super Hot Cyan

Re: Super Hot Cyan Sounds like you've got your ducks in a row. We are in the same boat. We keep our monitors in line, proofers clean and calibrated, plates are read regularly (and don't drift), curves are all good, etc. etc. The only variables we really ever see is on press. But, according to...

    Super Hot Cyan

Re: Super Hot Cyan Not to beat this thing to death, but here's the logic I'm dealing with: Press Guy runs the front of a job and pumps up the cyan to make the tiny bit of cyan on this job stand out better. Then, turns the sheets over, hangs the plates for the back and complains that he now has...

    Super Hot Cyan

Re: Super Hot Cyan I have checked the profiles, proofing, etc. and they are all ok. In looking at the press sheets, I can see that they also have far too much black and not enough yellow. I don't think they can even pretend to balance the sheet when they've got 2 other colors out of whack...

    Super Hot Cyan

Re: Super Hot Cyan Looks like Andy Cave is on vacation after all. Anyway, the plate curves were applied and are working properly. I think the best way to check this out is to re-run the plates for the sig that had the most headaches and put it back on the press. Of course, after the guys wash...

    Super Hot Cyan

Re: Super Hot Cyan they had to run far less cyan to get close to color. that's why I don't understand how everything can be fine until it hits the press. Everything checks out except the press.

    Super Hot Cyan

Re: Super Hot Cyan No, the ink isn't literally shut off, that's just a pressman term. I'm not a pressman, but I do know that they can't run job after job with perfect color and then have one job out of the blue (pun intended) just wreak havoc like this. I also know that the head guy was back...

    Super Hot Cyan

Re: Super Hot Cyan The ink hasn't changed, it's been the same stuff for quite awhile now. I do know that the guys back there maintain the press very well. However, these are the same guys that had the cyan and magenta plates switched a while ago too, and came into my prepress room waving a...

    Super Hot Cyan

To make a long story short: Jobs are running fine. Pressmen are printing to density and the press sheets are looking just like the proof. Job after job after job after job. Then suddenly, Cyan goes berserk and blows it all out of the water. The proofs look fine, the plate measurements are fine...
