comparison KM 8000 vs Ricoh 901+

I don't have exact experience with the two machines, however I wouldn't recommend printing letterheads (for overprinting) on any toner based digital machine. They use a heat process (fuser) to get the toner to stick to the paper... when it's run through a laser printer (which is basically the...

Advice - Considering New Light Production Machines

I've not done the sums and don't know how much room you've got but it could probably work out cheaper (and more productive) to have separate colour & mono machines You'll get a massively reduced mono click rate on a dedicated mono machine.

xerox 800/1000 - reliable work horse or stay away?

Makes sense :) The upwards curl on the lead edge means it isn't contacting the sensor properly? You'll know way more about this machine than me but thought I'd throw these out there anyway... Do you get the same results with long grain / short grain? Have they changed the vacuum transport...

    Registration/solids on Xerox 800 and 1000

Bit late on this... The 5000 uses the 240/700 series imaging (toners/devs/ROS/drums/IBT) but doesn't use EA toner... The paper path and fuser are pretty much the same as the 6060 or 8000. Most of the parts are actually interchangeable. The paper trays and output are the same as the 8000. Not...

xerox 800/1000 - reliable work horse or stay away?

I think my GBP:USD calculation may have been slightly off :) I know X aren't too keen on public pricing so won't go any further. ...Anyway... 300k per month makes more sense. :D 16pt (350gsm) is in spec for the colorpress so at the end of the day if it wasn't running it properly you can...

xerox 800/1000 - reliable work horse or stay away?

There's obviously a balance to be had. I'd say the main reason for the "larger" machines is due to volume... a colorpress is suited to 100000-250000 impressions per month and this will be reflected in the costs. In terms of output quality a lot of the smaller machines are very good. In fact the...

xerox 800/1000 - reliable work horse or stay away?

I'd say you haven't got anywhere near the volume to justify an 800/1000. The volume would be more suited to a J75 or 550 machine. Any reason you wanted to look at an iGen and then a Colorpress rather than the other machines?

    HP Indigo 7600 vs iGen 4 110...

Hey Shortrun, Interested to hear what happened with this? If I remember right a year or so ago you went from DC5000s to a ColorPress and got this taken out too? It seems like BigX aren't doing too well in your shop! Did they propose an 8250 at all? J

had terrible experience with xerox today

Is it just the one iGen you want? No I want 4. And I want them delivered tomorrow. By FedEx. ...I get the feeling from some of the questions that the live chat operator is more used to covering the smaller office stuff. They probably weren't even aware that an iGen would have likely been a...

a good Web to Print solution presently

Yes lots and lots and lots of options. I'll try and find the link where this was discussed in some detail with a list of questions you may want to be asking. Here are some of the things I'd think about though: There will be lots of people who will probably disagree but I don't think there are...

    Booklet Maker 3 staple question

I thought it was called the Diamand edition because it comes with a special 60 year lease to make the monthly payments more affordable? Also don't forget the soon to be released iGen4 xXx - this is like a regular iGen4 but includes Vin Diesel as your operator.

Opinion/Advice on turnaround time for binding booklets

Haven't got an answer to your question, but if you're just feeding digital jobs have you looked at a Duplo Digital Sheet Feeder? It feeds pre-collated sheets.

Business card cutter verse old fashion Guillotine

When I ran a digital printers I looked at these a number of times (the DC645) and almost got as far as signing on the line for one. Like arossetti says they can do a lot more than business cards! I think a lot of it would also come down to the workflow you've got feeding the machine... if I...

    Software Consultants or Experts

Hi Willie, Could you be more specific on which processes? I've overseen the development of a few custom applications (client facing web2print and artwork approval) but there aren't too many areas now which wouldn't be well covered with off the shelf software (even if a few systems needed to be...

Help!! Which one to go with!

Hi Craig, That's an interesting point... was that between the Xerox 8080 and Konica 8000? How does the output compare on the 8080 compared to the Xerox 8000? Are there big differences to mechanics of the fuser?
