Changing job file server - Error: Unable to convert...

Check this out, I put process monitor on the rip. Mac connected to new server only, drop in pdf, select network path for output to new server. Rampage will send all the output to the old server. That's why we were getting the error I guess, because we had the server off. But it's clear as day...

Changing job file server - Error: Unable to convert...

Good thought, but same file will rip from old server. But I can turn on file name policy in EZ and try it. Possible it's behaving differently on 2012 I suppose.

Changing job file server - Error: Unable to convert...

Going from 2003 to 2012. Have extremeZ-IP setup on new server exactly as old. Rampage clients are able to grab PDFs and drop in rip. If macs were not connected to server via AFP, the PDFs would be greyed out. This is the rip box which is trying to access the customer data folder. And the...

Changing job file server - Error: Unable to convert...

We're relocation all customer job files to a new server. I followed the instructions in a PDF we got from our Fuji rep on setting up for 2012, really the same on previous versions. I changed the path under preferences for customer data location, rampage box can see it. The old server was on a...

Calculating Print Over and finshing overs

Are you using any software for estimating or job planning? I would start by identifying which process you think your waste is off for. Every shop is a little different, but 2.5 for press run waste is high for us. And we use a curve to taper the waste down to a fraction as qty goes up.

    Color Proofing All Jobs?

dlandon - you were clear, just clarifying for some other folks. Good info, thanks. Wondering if there is a low cost solution for us commercial sheetfed guys that anyone has implemented. We PDF everything, so maybe it's as simple as throwing that up on a calibrated monitor. Since we got our...

    Color Proofing All Jobs?

Lots of great feedback - thx. Is anyone soft proofing AT the press, like with firstProof or similar? I'm very interested in saving time to help the turnaround. Even for our online orders that get PDF approval, we do an internal dylux and epson. Those go up to customer service for approval, then...

    Color Proofing All Jobs?

Currently we run hard proofs for every job. I'd like to eliminate that on at least all flat work to speed up the job and save a few bucks. Anyone doing that and/or using soft proofing at the press? Ken

    Xerox 5000AP or 2nd hand Indigo 3050

good point good point lfelton brings up a good point re the operating costs. I'm not familiar with Xerox pricing. Just an observation from my perspective though: Given the current conditions, clients don't care much about quality any more and price is their primary concern. Turnaround is 2nd...

    End to Prepress Operator??

The number of "image ready" jobs that are junk is directly proportional to how bad the economy is! It's worse now than ever. I think more people are trying to do it themselves instead of hiring a good designer. You prepress techs are some of the smartest guys in the shop anyway, you're not going...

    Xerox 5000AP or 2nd hand Indigo 3050

Indigo Indigo We've got a 3050 and we're pretty happy with the quality and service. The only thing I might add is conider any automation you might do with web2print and your potential variable data jobs. Currently none of the onpress RIPs of any model will support an optimized PDF that...
