Konica 6100 / Fiery issue with transparency

If by 'hotfolder' you mean dragging production PDFs into the job list area of the Command Workstation interface, then yes we use hotfolders. You're right, the imposition does not have its own colour settings. After imposing, it simply makes another instance of the job in the job list, but with...

Thanks YourCastle, did this too. I was sent a PDF file with recommended settings for the Fiery. I now have adjusted our defaults to match them. Yes, this was one of the recommendations

Thanks Dov. I would love the learn where these 'enhancements' are. As I mentioned we will get Konica involved here to help us with a solution. thanks for your attention.

Konica 6100 / Fiery issue with transparency

OK, more weirdness on a completely different job ... Fiery processing colour differently if 1up or if using the built-in imposition for 2up. See photographs. At this point there is something fundamentally wrong, we will seek out support from Konica. In the meantime enjoy this head-scratcher...

Konica 6100 / Fiery issue with transparency

We export PDFs from Indesign/Illiustrator using Adobe PDFx-4 presets. Then drag into the Fiery Command Workstation.

Konica 6100 / Fiery issue with transparency

No. The preview in the PDF shows them as identical—colour values, colour space, ICC profiles.. all identical. Only difference is one image sits on a transparent layer in PShop... don't mistake the word 'transparent' as meaning it's opacity is less than 100 percent, its not. In this case the...

Konica 6100 / Fiery issue with transparency

I've tested many iterations of PDF presets; working off PDFx-1a & PDFx-4 standards, nothing really works all that well. Yes, flattening happens under x1a, obviously, but the the resulting CMYK looks flat and lifeless (at least on the Konica). However, because this job was supplied RGB (which...

Are you able to tell me what version of Fiery you have?

Thank you, yes I tried this but the issue remains.

Konica 6100 / Fiery issue with transparency

Yes, tried toggling the APPE on/off. Both areas of interest are contone images, both RGB, both tagged with the same ICC. The only difference is one is on a transparent layer in PSD, the other is not. If I flatten the one PSD the problem goes away. I guess my point is, why should I have to do...

Thank you Dov. here is a link to the production PDF - 39531 Rev2_FrootLoops_JugLabel.pdf Interesting to note: this art renders fine on our Kodak Nexpress and through our Heidelberg Prinect PDF workflow (Litho).

Konica 6100 / Fiery issue with transparency

We use the PDFX/4 on our presets when saving/exporting from Adobe Illustrator/Indesign. 'Composite Overprint' - is that a setting on the Fiery?

Konica 6100 / Fiery issue with transparency

We ran into trouble with a job that had 2x contone images; sitting side by side; both RGB, both tagged with same ICC — when it runs through the Fiery, one image looks dull, the other is perfectly fine. The only difference is the image on the right sits on a transparent layer in photoshop, and...

Konica Minolta C6100 w Fiery RIP : Pale coloured Stripes through print, rendering issue?

OK, 3 tools to fix rendering issues from within the Fiery job properties - after Fiery impose, use unflattened (DBP), also deselect 'PDFx rendering intent' and deselect 'Composite overprint'.

Konica Minolta C6100 w Fiery RIP : Pale coloured Stripes through print, rendering issue?

Thanks DYP... so far some success with a 'ftattening setting' after layout... apparently after imposing you can 'flatten' the sheet to an 'IMP' file, or leave unflattened as a 'DBP' file format... the DBP format seems to fix the issue with APPE check on. I will see if the translates across all...
