eccentric bars on a Goss community

This brings back memories of the old days! This won't help answer your question but did make me remember the beginnings of my printing career on Goss Community 4-high machines. Anything you did on the gearside got you covered in oil. That 2 year stint taught me a lot about printing & machinery...

Printing digital on an offset background?

While the project that you propose is doable but it may not be as practical as you would think. There are a lot of variables that are going to affect the dual print process that can be overcome but will need to be done the same way each time prints are produced for you. You may run into...

    Ink costs versus offest printing

Paper cost should remain the same for digital or litho provided that the paper is compatible with the digital press. Ink cost is generally higher for digital prints but that will vary for each machine. The advantage of digital prints is that the minimum quantity purchase can be very low but...

    Printing on wood doors

Rohan, We have run furniture grade plywood through our Durst presses on several occasions with good results. If your doors are flat I would think that your finished product would be similar.

    Shipping Foam Core?

Use corner protectors, if die cut leave scrap around the edges, build a box that allows for bubble pack or paper packing around it. You will still get a few damaged packages but most will be fine.

    UV coating adhesion problem

Make sure that everyone doing a tape adhesion test is using the exact same tape & test method, preferably from the same batch. Different tapes / brands or test methods will give drastically different results. Wax free inks & AQ primer will help. The end usage of the product should be...

    Conventional Ink on Plastic

A second for the Wikoff product. It has worked very well for us. By far, your best bet for printing plastic stocks will be via UV cured inks. Conventional inks, on plastics, require a much longer drying time.

What "fades" faster? CMYK or Pantone?

Your question does not give enough information to answer correctly. What color? What print process? What stock? Length of time printed product is expected to last without fade in the specified environment? The color is a huge factor. Some pigments are naturally light fast. Most PMS colors can...

    blanket washer cloth rewind

I've never heard of anyone rewinding blanket wash cloth before. In this day and age of constantly looking for ways to cut costs I do understand thinking outside of the box. Good luck with this project.

    Need A Good Adhesive Suggestion

You will need a solvent acrylic adhesive on a film stock of some type. That type could be a vinyl or PET. Length of intended life outdoors is a factor. One thing to remember when you are testing adhesives is that you need to apply them and then come back 24-48 hours and test them, not just...

You have a PM. What is your special pressure sensitive? UV is not always required...PS can be paper stocks also. Quantity of the print run is a big determining factor in what print method is used to produce large format prints. Digital and screen are both options also.

Digital Inks for 3 Year Direct Sun Light Exposure

The Durst machine I mention has inks that are manufactured by Sun Chemical and sold only through Durst. I have personally tested them and other digital inks in an accelerated life testing chamber.

    Scratch Off Coating

How to make your Printing glossy?

UV coating is what you are after. If you are thinking that you are going to run magazine weight sheets through it be sure to test this theory using the stock you plan to coat prior to purchasing an off line coater. Most will have trouble coating a lightweight sheet as it tends to hug the...

    Press side measurement??

Agreed Beauchamp!. Brer, if your shop ever gets into tighter color management your team will find the spectro extremely useful. Be aware that either option will need yearly calibrations at the manufacturer to maintain accuracy. The Eye-One is a great tool but we use 528's on the presses.
