Flexo Screen Angle for Single Color

Thanks, Rich. True on the "wobble".

Flexo Screen Angle for Single Color

We output our photopolymer plates using these flexo screen angles: C=22.5 M=82.5 Y=7.5 K=52.5 What is the best angle to use for a non-process (spot only) single-color screen? 45 degrees is what we used in offset, any recommendations? Is it best to stick with the black angle (52.5)? Second...

    Business Jargon

What about DIRTFT (Do it right the first time), FOC (Folder of Crap), or "My job is done." My old boss used to say the last one, as he sat at his desk with his feet up.

    Highlight dot dropoff poly

Thanks Wi-Flexo and dgerharter for your comments. We did want to try to achieve a smoother transition in the gradient if we could. We don't have the Samba option, yet. Sometimes we'll run the screens separately from the solids just so we can hold the screens open, and we use different tape...

    Highlight dot dropoff poly

Hi, wondering if anyone has any ideas how to prevent highlight dot "dropoff". We are running 1.5 mil polyethylene with .067" photopolymer plates w/.020" backing tape, with 120L screens. One jpg shows the dropoff on the printed poly, the other file shows the dgc applied to the job. We'd bumped...

    Font issues.

If you're using InDesign just copy the font you want to use into the fonts folder there, that's worked for me.

Epson: Quality Prints on Stationery-Style Paper?

We use an Epson Cold Press Bright for "art prints" (mostly watercolor reproductions) that we print on our Epson 4880. We've had good results with that.

    X-rite 939 illuminate/observer settings

DA, Thanks for your reply. When you say to change the Ill/Ob to D50/2--that's on the 939 itself, correct? The saved custom colors from our color library (we create custom colors when we can't hit the Pantone) are showing 50/10 under "Obtain Reflectance Date" (under edit/standards), and the...

    Dot gain in shadows (flexo)

Well, heard about "Friendly Flexo"--turns out the image we're trying to match had been altered to make a "skeleton" black and adjusted for drop-off. That explains a lot. Guess I'll try to alter our image to try to get it to open up. Move the detail to the K plate, remove dot from the CMY plates...

    Dot gain in shadows (flexo)

Erik--we're in testing mode, so yes, there could be too much pressure. They're currently using 1000line/2.2 bcm aniloxes.

    Dot gain in shadows (flexo)

Gordo, that's another one of the press foreman's comments, that our dots are "bigger" than the sample (we're trying to match). We haven't purchased any AM screens outside of these that came with Esko. Meddington, I'm not sure what the max shadow area is, they've been experimenting today at our...

    Dot gain in shadows (flexo)

Any ideas on how to keep the shadows open outside of a press compensation curve? We're having trouble keeping our shadows open, they seem dull and muddy. We are currently applying a press curve; we output round dots; 150 line screens. Our screen angles are 7.5 YEL, 22.5 CY, 52.5 MAG and 82.5...

    X-rite 939 illuminate/observer settings

Hmmm, interesting about the 10 degree being preferable for spots. Wonder if they got some advice from one of the ink vendors down in TX, although they have their own ink kitchen. The press is remote (Texas), I do the file prep from Denver. Thanks, all.

    X-rite 939 illuminate/observer settings

Thanks for the response, meddington! This helps a lot. I've investigated the "standards" list within the software, turns out we're using a mish-mash of 50/2 along with 50/10 settings. I'll let our pressmen know that they need to start using the 50/2 setting for all clients (except one client...

    X-rite 939 illuminate/observer settings

We have an X-rite 939 spectrodensitometer that we use with X-rite ColorMaster software. We were set up with an initial 50/2 illuminate/observer setting (I inherited the color management portion of my job from 2 people that have since left the co.). This I can see in the ColorMaster software...

Has anyone used ESKO server/tools from remote workstation.

We work on the art in Denver, then RIP the files to len and copy to a server that our TX printing facility can access. All prep work done in Denver, the plates are made from the len files in TX.
