Soft-Touch laminate profile - any success?

Wonderful Mike, you're exactly who we were hoping to hear from on this thread. I'll have our PrePress manager email you shortly. I think our profile is 90% accurate, but yes, has some weak points possibly stemming from a less than perfect printing of the target sheets.

Soft-Touch laminate profile - any success?

Black spectrum is much smaller but the main shifts concerning the customer happen in the magenta and some yellows. It deepens a heavy magenta but can push the highlights especially with some yellow builds more orange, like skin tones. It's almost more of a twisting of the Gamut instead of a...

Soft-Touch laminate profile - any success?

We've been working on an ICC profile for our customer to softproof and edit that projects the color shift from SWOP Coat3 to a soft-touch laminate application. We've worked with some top color specialists but can not lock this in. We scanned our target sheets in after printing to SWOP standards...

Decreasing weight in the pocket to feed more forms?

I figured this was a common issue but I've had no luck finding solutions. One of our stitchers is a top feeding Muller Bravo. Though the pocket guides are 12-14" tall, we can often only stack up to 6" depending on the paper weight. I'm looking for a way to extend the height of the guides and add...

Edge chipping on perfect bound books

Not sure if you've solved this since but we saw a similar issue and discovered that there is usually a small scoring blade the nips the spine before the blades come down. We replaced those and haven't had a spine chip since. Good luck.

Better options for in-line cover scoring than a Tri-Creaser?

Thought I would provide some feedback: We installed the Spine-Creaser three weeks ago and the results have been wonderful. Very easy to install, we're looking at adding them to the other machines now. I'm not sure why we had mixed reviews on this product, I have nothing but positive experiences...

    31 years in offset...

3-D printing will change everything, but not a complete change. Just because you could 3-D print a magazine, doesn't mean you can do it as cost-effectively or as fast as an offset printer. Specialized markets will feel their entry way before the mass production industry will, outside of maintenance.

Best method to apply Belly Bands/Wraps? Also looking for automated banding machine.

Occasionally we do belly banding in house, manually. We've moved from taping to glue dots but we run into issues where the dots don't hold the heavier belly bands down well, or can tear non-coated paper stocks. The tape is unsightly. Would anyone recommend a better manually applied application...

Better options for in-line cover scoring than a Tri-Creaser?

Thanks Eighty7. From your experience, how did the TriCreaser seem to perform in that setting?

Better options for in-line cover scoring than a Tri-Creaser?

Upgrading our cover scoring mechanisms and we're finding few options other than Tri-Creaser. We get pretty mixed reviews on the effectiveness of this product so I'd like to gather as much feedback as possible. Generally, we run 80# text up to 10pt Cover so nothing too heavy. Thanks for any...

Sonora plates and Web Offset: looking for feedback

Thank you Dan, we probably average around 380 plates a day, runs of 5-50,000. We recycle our water on our wash-up system, and also do manual cleanings on the ink rollers for the non-auto wash systems. Obviously the goal would be to keep the wash-ups from increasing. I'll have to check, but I'm...

Sonora plates and Web Offset: looking for feedback

I actually did a search before posting, and only two results came up, neither discussing these issues. Perhaps I should some other key words. Thanks for the response though.

Sonora plates and Web Offset: looking for feedback

I'm prepping for some tests on our webs with this plate. If the performance is what's been quoted, we should be a good fit. However, pressroom manager is very concerned about contaminating fountain solution, inks and water. Anyone go through this process yet with positive results? Thanks.

Looking to upgrade imposition proofer speed from Designjet 4000 w/ Spinjet

Had several years of use of the DesignJet but it often rips the paper when perfecting, and is very slow. We run Epson 9900 and Epson 10600 for color proofing with great results. Looking for a faster content proofer that backs up. I've read that several use the Epson 9900 for this, but that...
